Overnight Cordoba Experience Including City Tour

2 days
About this activity
Day 1:
Check in to your hotel in the early afternoon, and then spend the rest of your day at leisure. Maybe get yourself acquainted with the city by taking a stroll down Calleja de las Flores, a sun-dappled alleyway adorned with colorful bougainvillaea and geraniums. The whitewashed street is set against the backdrop of Cordoba Mezquita – the city’s famous cathedral-mosque – and makes an ideal spot for romantic photographs of the city.

Also famous for its food scene, Cordoba is crammed with atmospheric tapas bars and tiny bodgeas (wine bars) that serve up tantalizing Andalucian treats. Ask your hotel to recommend an eatery or simply amble around at leisure, being guided by your instincts. Food, drinks and activities are at your own expense.

Overnight: 3-star Selu Hotel or similar

Day 2: (B)
After breakfast in your hotel, walk into town to meet your guide and start your 3.5-hour walking tour outside Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos, the city’s fortified medieval palace. Built in the 14th century for King Alfonso XI, the alcázar has a rich history, often being considered as the last Moorish stronghold of Spain. Learn all about it while walking around inside, and then wander across town to visit the city’s star attraction: the Mezquita.

The eye-catching cathedral-mosque boasts a history that dates back to the days of AD 600, serving stints as both a Christian church and a mosque. Gaze at the contrasting architectural styles of the monument and hear of Spanish dignitaries, like King Charles V, who influenced its design.

Other highlights of your walking tour include Cordoba’s Jewish quarter (Judeira), an area characterized by pretty cobblestone streets lined with shops hawking crafts and antique jewelry. The neighborhood is also home to the Jewish Synagogue – one of the city’s hidden gems.

Your walking tour finishes in the center of town, and before leaving, your guide will give tips for local restaurants that you can visit for lunch (own expense).

Return to your hotel and check out, finishing your Cordoba overnight experience in town.
