Cozumel Jeep and Snorkel Adventure Tour

5h30
About this activity
After boarding your Jeep Wrangler or Jeep Patriot (maximum 4 guests per Jeep), take off on an exciting drive around town for insights into local life. The scenic route provides breathtaking views of tropical Cozumel, and throughout your drive you can keep in contact with your tour guide via a state-of-the-art radio system installed in every Jeep.

A long sandy road leads to the Punta Sur State Refuge ecological reserve. Here you'll visit El Caracol, an ancient Mayan ruin once used as a weather alarm. Built between 1200 and 1400 A.D., El Caracol was used by the Mayans to indicate the approach of a hurricane or storm. At Columbia Lagoon, watch saltwater crocodiles basking in the sun in their natural environment. Then, explore the observation tower which overlooks the lagoon before heading over to the beach to enjoy the year-round crystal-clear waters.

The bay is protected from sea currents, and its calm, shallow waters make it the ideal place for snorkeling. You might see turtles, lobsters and tropical fish on your guided snorkeling tour. While you snorkel, your guide will always be nearby to help you out and answer any questions you may have. If you want to give snorkeling a miss, feel free to simply relax under the shade of your beach umbrella.

Jumping back into the Jeeps, you'll head over to the Navigation Museum inside the Punta Celarain lighthouse, with the option to climb to the top. Then, drive over to a beach resort to enjoy a delicious Mexican lunch of fajitas, rice, beans, chips, real tortillas and Mexican salsa. Beach chairs, a freshwater swimming pool, showers and towels are included in the price.

Had a good time on the trip, the only negative was the tequila tour.I don't remember this being listed on the itinerary as I probably would not have booked it if I had. I didn't need a 30 minute sales pitch to buy overpriced alcohol in the middle of my tour.

We had a blast, great way to see the beauty of Cozumel. Jeeps are sturdy beasts that get a work out, watch your head climbing the lighthouse, get a massage and lunch on a beach.

A great way to capture a glimpse of the Mayan history and beautiful beaches of Cozumel. The lighthouse provides wonderful views if you are fit enough to do the climb. Unfortunately we were unable to snorkel with turtles due to currents. The tequila distillery was very interesting. Great guides.

The Cozumel jeep and snorkel adventure tour was good, but not quite what was advertised. We were with a large group, which was fine, but we would have liked to spent more time on the beach and less time with the talking about the one 1 crocodile we saw in the park. The lighthouse and museum were terrific. The snorkeling, beach time and fajitas was awesome - more time needed here.

A lot of fun. Guide's dune buggy broke down, but that ended up giving us a custom tour of the island. Weather wasn't good for snorkeling, but that's nature. Guide did a great job of coming up with alternate activities.

The first thing you must know is that the jeeps are all manual transmissions. Even so, they are old and the shift was difficult even among the other drivers on our tour. The stick itself had a bend in it and the diagram was angled so the driver in our group had a difficult time shifting. It took some time for her to get the hang of it. There are no maps provided and there is no communication from the lead car to any of the jeeps following it. I had hoped there was going to be a radio to provide some commentary as we were driving, but this was not the case. We went to a nature preserve initially then headed to the beach for snorkeling. Those of us who did not snorkel had the use of hammocks under a canopy where we could rest, read, etc. We were given bottled water. We went to an area where there was some shopping available tequila and craft items. The best part of the tour was an authentic Mexican lunch of fish, chicken or port tacos.
