About this activity
Description of the colonial zone of Cuenca:

The richness of its architecture and culture in general earned Cuenca the appointment of Cultural Heritage of Humanity, on December 1, 1999. The Historic Center, with about 200 hectares, is formed by the oldest residential area. Here we find a great number of buildings of colonial style and Republican of great beauty; the archaeological zone; the artisan neighborhoods (of colonial origin); the central markets; the Tomebamba Ravine with Paseo 3 de Noviembre and several places of cultural and scenic importance that show the reason for the declaration as a city Cultural Heritage.

You will be picked up from your hotel at 9am to make your way to the historic downtown. See rustic houses and churches built in the 19th century, and tick off Cuenca highlights such as New Cathedral (Catedral de la Inmaculada), Plaza Abdon Calderon, Mirador de Turi, and Museo Catedral de Vieja.

Later, step back in time to 1557 to see the Catedral el Sagrario along with the council, the jail, the cast house and the hospital.

The tour will conclude with a drop-off at your hotel.
