About this activity
Day 1: Cusco - Tambomachay - Qenko

We will leaving Cusco city and head to the Inca site of Tambomachay. From this location will start our Huchuy Qosqo hike which it will pass through valleys, mountain lakes and small communities. We will indulge by the beauty of the nature, their variety of birds such as the Andean Geese, partridges and lapwings as well as a variety of birds of prey, all of which are regularly spotted throughout the day.

Our hike is taking us along a path that leads to the Tauca town in which nearby we will find archaeological vestiges, also wild crops, such as tarwi, and a large quantity of cactus. Following our path on to the Pukamarca pass at 4, 200m, we will delight ourselves with the stunning views of the valley and magnificent mountains: Veronica, Pitusiray, Chicon and the San Juan snow peaks. Than we will descend towards the beautiful, remote Andean pueblo Pukamarca at 4,010m above sea level, and have a short break. We will walk downhill to a mystical ancient path which will lead us to the Leon Punku Ravine a small and narrow corridor between rock walls. Inca remains in place and sets of stairs (some of the best examples of Inca stairs anywhere in the world) will leave us astonished. This canyon is absolutely magical and boasts geological formations surrounded by majestic rocks and boulders that direct the river to Huchuy Qosqo at 3,600m. We will get to the ruins and admire its formation on the mountains and we will settle no far from this archeological site to pass the night.

Day 2: Qenko - Huchuy Qosco - Lamay - Aguas Calientes

We will enter into the Huchuy Qosqo and hike to its archeological site led by our guide. You can take as much photos as you wanted and immerse into the past of this place on your own. Afterwards, of seeing the most of Huchuy Qosqo, we will start our trek that would last 2 hours. At some point of our trail we will have a break and lunch too.

Our trail will way down the mountain, to Lamay at 3,000m / 9,840ft. Lamay is a town dedicated to agriculture and cattle raising. Later in the afternoon, our private transport will carry us to Ollantaytambo, where we will board an afternoon train to Aguas Calientes.

The train ride to Ollantaytambo is fascinating because the whole station, train wagons and decor seems extract from a movie well back in the past. The train route to Aguas Calientes is an absolutely gorgeous route, world-renowned for its beauty. Upon our arrival to Aguas Calientes all passengers will be shown to their respective hotels

Day 3: Machu Picchu

Waking up early, you'll board the first bus back up to Machu Picchu to enter the site as it opens. Enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of the site and then explore this place on your own. You can also climb up the Huayna Picchu if you've purchased the permit before. Then, you'll take the train back to Ollantaytambo and a bus back to Cusco.

Amazing tour. The camping at Huchuy Qosqo was amazing, my and my wife were accompanied by 6 staff members cook, tent carrier, etc plus Mr. Alex Curi our superb tour guide. Alex was very knowledgable about inca culture and made the whole trip a wonderful experience. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous. Will post pictures. This is off the beaten path and we only saw one other group from another company. The machu pichu part was Ok, but the trekk was terrific.
