Day 1: Cusco - Mollepata - Soraypampa Camp

Stop At: Humantay Lake, Cusco 08001 Peru
We will pick you up at your hotel in Cuzco around 4:30 a.m. between 5:00 am. We proceed to drive nearly 3 hours to Mollepata town. During the bus ride, you will see the snowcapped mountains of Salkantay and Veronica: the Holy Gods of the Incas, as well as a spectacular view of the colorful valleys below. After two hours of driving, we will make the first stop in Mollepata, a small village where you can grab last minute snacks or breakfast (optional). The drive will then continue until “ChallaCancha” (the starting point of our hike).After about 3 hours of hiking (9 km), we reach our lunch location and the base camp for the evening. We will have a full lunch, and take a break before trekking up to the breathtaking Humantay Lake (4200m). This is an additional 5 km hike that will take 3 hours round trip- but trust us, it’s worth it! Perfect spot to appreciate the constellations and the Milky Way.

Humantay is an amazing lake near Salkantay mountain with an elevation 13000 feets, if you are planing to hike the 5 day trek you will have chance get there day first. Take your classic picture near Humantay lake, Do your memorable adventure!

Day 2: Soraypampa - Huayracpampa - Chaullay Camp

Stop At: Salkantay Trail, Peru
After an early breakfast we start trekking from Soraypampa approx. 6:30 am we continue our hiking the Peruvian highland. From this point we can appreciate the spectacular views of the Mountain Salkantay, a stunning snow-capped mountain (6,264 m) the second highest peak in Cusco’s region and also the mountains Humantay and Huayanay, white river, small lakes and moraines. Then a further 2-3 hours downhill walk to Camping site at Chaullay 2,920 m. 22 km. approx.

Day 3: Chaullay - La Playa - Santa Teresa Camp

Stop At: Salkantay Trail, Peru
Wake up to lovely mountain scenery and a good morning tea. We'll start at 7am for an easy 3 hours of trekking where we'll be introduced to the high Jungle called “Ceja de Selva”. We'll see different kinds of plants, fruits, flowers, birds and also banana trees, coffee and others can be observed and to take amazing pictures. From here take a small car for approximately 45-minute to Santa Teresa village where the hot springs are (optional hot spring bath). Also we will spend a night here. Walking distance approximately 15 Km. Overall the hike will last approximately 9-hour.

Day 4: Santa Teresa - Hydroelectric - Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town)

Stop At: Salkantay Trail, Peru
After breakfast at approximately 8:30 am. The trek begins to follow a rising trail where there can be seen plantations of coffee, banana, passion fruit and a lovely view of the Santa Teresa Valley. From here we'll continue walking to Aguas Calientes, arriving around 4:30 pm. Then we'll stay in a hostel for the last night. Walking distance approximately 10 km.

Day 5: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Stop At: Machu Picchu, 08680, Peru
Begin the travel up to the Archaeological site of Machu Picchu and we'll explore the city and enjoy the ancient ruins in the early morning hours. From here (Aguas Calientes) we take the train back to Ollantaytambo at 19:00 hrs. 20:32 hrs.) to connect with the transfer back to the city of Cuzco (from 19:00 hrs. to 22:45 hrs.).

  • Train from Hidroelectrica to Machu Picchu town (tourist usually hike this part)
  • Bus from Aguas Calientes town to Machu Picchu and vice-versa ($24) (tourists usually hike this part)
