6-Day Puerto Maldonado Amazon Tour from Cusco

Day 1: Night Bus from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado
Meet a driver at your Cusco accommodations for transfer to the bus station, where you'll catch an overnight bus to Puerto Maldonado.

Day 2: Puerto Maldonado Orchid Tour – Boat to Eco-Lodge (B, L, D)
Upon 7am arrival at the bus station, join a guide for transfer to the local office, breakfast, and a quick orchid tour. At noon you'll continue to the wharf for the hour-long boat ride to the lodge.

When you arrive at the lodge, settle into your private bungalow for a short rest, then take a guided walk through stands of giant Kapok trees, walking palms, and strangler figs, listening for the sounds of native birds. Return to your bungalow for an afternoon rest and your first dinner in the rainforest.

Day 3: Jungle Walk – Taricaya Reserve (B, L, D)
After breakfast, set out on foot through huge trees, then access a series of high tree platforms from a suspension bridge. Continue your walk into the Taricaya reserve, making your way towards the highest tree platform in the Amazon rainforest.

You'll encounter many different wild animals at the reserve's rescue center, stop by the Butterfly House, then return to the lodge for lunch. Take a rest before a 25-minute walk to the agroforestry farm, where you'll see reforestation plots with mahogany, cedar, cacao, coffee, and tropical flowers. Visit the Taricaya turtle project and its artificial beaches, then return to the lodge in your own inflatable boat. After some free time on your own, finish the day’s activities searching for caimans on a nighttime boat trip. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 4: Tambopata National Reserve - Lake Sandoval (B, L, D)
Have an early breakfast before cruising to the entrance of the Tambopata National Reserve. Trek to Lake Sandoval, then paddle the mirror-like lake in a rowboat. Finish with a walk back to the river, where you'll board a motorboat for the return trip to the lodge for lunch and a rest. In the afternoon, navigate the Madre de Dios River in your own inflatable boat, ending the day with a farewell dinner.

Day 5: Puerto Maldonado Activities - Night Bus to Cusco (B)
Enjoy an early breakfast at the lodge before the boat trip to Puerto Maldonado on the Madre de Dios River. Arrive at 9:30am for a day full of activities before catching a night bus to Cusco. Explore the city center on your own, tour a snake house, and take a refreshing swim at a pool house before transfer to the bus station.

Day 6: Arrival to Cusco
This tour concludes upon arrival in Cusco.
