Day 1: Day 1 Cusco Valle Sagrado Huchuyqosqo (3.450m / 11,318ft)

Stop At: Sacred Valley of the Incas, 0051 Peru
Day 1 Cusco Valle Sagrado Huchuyqosqo (3.450m / 11,318ft)

A day with a lot of magic and connection to the spiritual world. We leave Cusco by private transport towards the Sacred Valley. On our way, you can appreciate beautiful, natural landscapes until we arrive at the impressive archeological Inca site of Pisaq (3,400 m): with terraces, wellsprings, neighborhoods, observatories and a cemetery. A beautiful complex from where the Incas controlled and governed the Sacred Valley, this city was constructed among the high peaks of the Urubamba mountain chain. We will begin our visit walking until we arrive at the impressive astronomic point Inti Watana, to take some time for a meditation guided by our Andean shaman, recharging our positive energies.

Then, we will start the descent walking to the village of Pisaq to roam around its artisan market where a variety of textile, ceramics and silver work with precious stones are offered. After that, we will head by car for the village of Lamay to have a Pachamanca lunch prepared by our Homestay family. Pachamanca is an ancestral dish prepared on stones heated in a strong fire buried under the earth. It contains alpaca meat, trout, potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans and corn and - for the vegetarians – a variety of organic vegetables from the region. Afterwards, we continue our tour to a beautiful and quiet place called Huchuyqosqo, where our Homestay family will welcome us. After a nice dinner, we will hold the Ceremony of the Sacred bird, the Condor, around a wood fire. The Andean shaman will prepare the offering with the participation of the whole group to invoke the Apus (sacred mountains) and the Spirit of the Mountains, which is the Condor, and start the meditation to connect us with the Spiritual World and with Nature who will help us in our daily life. After the mediation the shaman will start to burn the offering, calling upon the spirits to protect us in every moment of our life.

A day of ceremonies. We will go to a place of much importance in the time of the Incas. It is a beautiful huaca (sacred rock) carved in an immense rock with the design of a Chacana or Andean Cross, that served as a place for ceremonies, rituals, offerings to Mother Nature and the Apus (sacred mountains), considered Gods. Unfortunately, it suffered some irreparable damage by treasure hunters. Even so, there is a beautiful ceremonial table where the Andean shaman prepares an offering for Mother Earth, the Pachamama, and for the participants a flower bath to clean any bad energies and ask for the realization of their wishes for their future daily life.

Continuing our journey we go to the valley of Patacancha to realice a beautiful lama ceremony, known ancestrally as Llama Ch’uyay (spiritual cleansing). We will be participating in this beautiful ceremony, each one of us making a k’intu with coca leaves to show our gratefulness to the Pachamama, the Apus, who protect the peoples and their cattle as guardians, and in the end, we will dance a traditional dance of the Wallata region, ‘goose of the Andes’. We then will return to Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes.
