DAY 01: ARRIVAL CUSCO – AFTERNOON CITY TOUR ARCHEOLOGICAL SITES

Fly to Cusco and the city tour will start at 13:00 pm. We explore the city by foot to appreciate the Inca walls and architecturally extravagant colonial churches and palaces. This also includes a visit of Koricancha. After this we take a short drive to visit Sacsayhuaman along with Tambomachay.

DAY 2 – FULL DAY TO SACRED VALLEY (PISAC, OLLANTAYTAMBO & CHINCHERO)

We will do the Sacred Valley Tour: visiting Pisac, Ollantaytambo. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. On our way back to Cusco we will stop in Chinchero, a place where the townspeople are famed for their preservation of traditional Andean spinning and weaving techniques.

DAY 3 CUSCO TO KM 82 – HIKE TO WAYLLABAMBA (B, L, D)

Pick up form the hotel and transport to Km 82. From there we will start the hike. After approximately three hours of walking you will see a beautiful Inca building known as “Llactapata” in the base of the mountains- you will stop for lunch. In the afternoon you will continue walking towards your first campsite, Wayllabamba

DAY 4 WAYLLABAMBA – PACAYMAYU (B, L, D) (Crossing the highest point)

After breakfast the toughest and the most amazing part of the trail will begin. After a 5 hour walk you will reach the first pass, called Warmiwañusca or Dead Woman`s Pass (4200 meter above the sea level). After having reached the top you will continue your walk down to Pacaymayo, where you will have lunch and spend the night at the campsite.

DAY 5 PACAYMAYO – WIÑAYWAYNA (B, L, D) (Descending into the Cloud Forest)

After breakfast the toughest and the most amazing part of the trail will begin. After a 5 hour walk you will reach the first pass, called Warmiwañusca or Dead Woman`s Pass (4200 meter above the sea level). After having reached the top you will continue your walk down to Pacaymayo, where you will have lunch and spend the night at the campsite.

DAY 6 HIKE TO SUN GATE, VISIT MACHU PICCHU SANCTUARY & BACK TO CUSCO (B)

After one hour and a half of walking through the cloud forest we´ll reach the Gate of the Sun, where you will have the most impressive panoramic view of Machu Picchu. Upon arrival at the citadel, we’ll have a three-hour guided tour around the magnificent complex, visiting the main sites and monuments.

After the touring this extraordinary location you will have some free time to wander around on your own and then you will take a bus down to Aguas Calientes. From there we will be catching a train back to Cusco or Ollantaytambo (time and destination indicated on your train ticket), from where we are going to take you back to the hotel. With our arrival in Cusco our adventure will come to the end.

DAY 7 – DEPARTURE FROM CUSCO (B)

Transfer out to Cusco airport.

  • CONSIDERATIONS
  • in order to secure a permit and entrance ticket to Machu Picchu, government regulations require full and current passport information for all trekkers. Permits are non-transferable and can sell out early, months in advance.
  • It is therefore important to arrange depature dates at the earliest opportunity. Climbing Huayna Picchu is an excellent addition to a trip to Machu Picchu. It offers superlative views, but is a step climb that can take about three hours.
  • Entrance to Huayna Picchu is limited and at scheduled times; visitors must sign up for a spot in advance. If you would like to consider doing the climb, it is important to book it in advance. While not as physically demanding as the full Inca Trail, hikers should be in good physical
  • condition.
