About this activity
DAY 1: CUSCO – PISPITAYOC (BIKING AND RAFTING)
You will be picked up from your hotel around 5:00am to drive towards Ollantaytambo, where breakfast is served in a local restaurant, later you start climbing to Abra Malaga (4350m.a.s.l.). From this point we will start mountain biking to Machupicchu with breathtaking views, rural villages, rivers, orchids, birds and two archeological sites of: Incatambo and Wamanmarca. In the last one we will have lunch to later continue in our bus to Santa Maria, place where we will enjoy white water rafting in the Urubamba River for two hours, we spent the night in a rustic lodge (Rafting is subject to weather conditions).
DAY 2: PISPITAYOC – SANTA TERESA
We will wake up in the middle of the jungle today with beautiful sounds of birds, enjoy a cup of fresh homemade coffee. It’s then a 4-hour hike using an amazing original Inca trail that connected Machupicchu with Vilcabamba “The Last Capital of the Incas”. Along the way you will find avocados, maniocs, oranges, mangoes, cacao, coffee and coca plantations. Arriving to Quellomayu for lunch. Later will be another 4-hour walk upstream along the Urubamba River to the thermo-medicinal springs of Cocalmayu (pure volcanic water) good for bones, stress, muscles and headaches. After soaking our bodies in the pools. We take a bus to Santa Teresa where we spend the night in a local lodge.
DAY 3: SANTA TERESA -LLAQTAPATA – AGUAS CALIENTES
After enjoying a delicious breakfast we will make our way to Lucmabamba (2,000m/6,600ft), from where we pick up another original Inca trail for 3 hours to Llaqtapata; this is another extraordinary Incan Site located right in front of Machupicchu, you will have time to explore and enjoy the beauty of the site as you learn more about the Incan history and reenergize with our yoga and mediattion session. The second part is relatively easy 2-hour downhill to hydroelectric station where we have lunch. After lunch is another 3-hour hike to Aguas Calientes. Arriving to the city around 5 pm. Dinner at a local restaurant (zip Line optional)
DAY 4: MACHUPICCHU (LOST CITY OF THE INCAS)
On our final day we have to get up very early to prepare for Machu Picchu and take the bus. Your guide will take you on a 2 to 3-hour comprehensive tour of the city before leaving you in Machu Picchu to explore on your own or climb either Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (must be booked as far in advance as possible). Your guide will explain how to take the bus from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes for lunch and take the train and bus back to Cusco.
