About this activity
DAY 1: CUSCO CHOQUEQUILLA RAFQA SOCMA PEROLNIYOC QORIMARCA

We will have an early morning, we will pick up you and we will drive to Choquequilla, a small ceremonial place where Incas worshipped the moon. Then we will arrive to starting point of the trek, Rafq'a, and meet the horsemen who join us on the hike. The first stop of our hike will be at the small community of Socma. Carry on to the Perolniyoc cascade lookout, an opportunity to stop for photos and a snack break. Continue to the campsite (3700 m above sea level). 

DAY 2: PUCCAQASA KUYCHICASSA CHOQUETACARPO

Today we will have an early start and also will be the most challenging day. After 3 hours of walk, takes you to the top of the first pass of Puccaqasa (4370 m). We will have some time for enjoying the view and also have lunch there. Afterwards, hike to Kuychicassa (approximately 2 hours), the highest pass of the trek (4450 m). From here, descend to the sacred site the Incas called Intipunku (Sun Gate), with views of the Nevado Veronica Mountain. Late afternoon we will arrive in our campsite Choquetacarpo.

DAY 3: KACHIQATA OLLANTAYTAMBO AGUAS CALIENTES

because will be just downhill and our first stop will be Kachiqata quarry, where the Incas were intercepted by the Spanish. Around midday, your trek comes to an end. We will have some free time at Ollantaytambo before taking the short train journey to Aguas Calientes. Spend the night in a comfortable hotel before tomorrow’s visit to Machu Picchu.

DAY 4: MACHU PICCHU CUSCO

This day we will have two options or going by walk at 4:30am or take the bus to Machu Picchu. In Machu Picchu, you will have a guided tour for about two hours then you will have your free time for enjoying this fantastic place, or if you desire, ascent toward the Huaynapicchu Mountain. At the evening we will be back to Cusco by train and bus then we will leace you at your hotel.

  • Sleeping bag. Our sleeping bags are –20ºC-comfort (0ºF) and and mummy form and include a sleeping liner.
  • Collection from your hotel in the morning and transfer in private transportation to Challacancha (starting point of the trek)
  • Personal tents: 2 people in each 4-people-capacity tent, to allow for higher comfort and a safe keeping of backpacks.
  • English speaking professional and official tourist guide (2 guides for groups of over 8 people)
  • Chef and cooking equipment.
  • Horse man (to carry tents, food and cooking equipment) – days 1 to 4
  • Saddled horse in case of emergencies or if you are making very little progress (this horse is with the group at all time)
  • 1 Bag or duffle bag where you can out maximum of 6kg per person (including sleeping pad and sleeping bag) – days 1 to 2(we are going to carry in our horses)
  • 3 Breakfasts, 3 Lunches, 3 Afternoon Snacks and 3 Dinners. If you have a dietary request such as + daily morning snack + daily tea service except last day). Vegetarian or special menus are available at no extra cost.
  • 1 night accommodation in Aguas Calientes in a basic hotel. If you wish to upgrade hotel please ask for options.

  • Camera and its charger/batteries (please note that batteries are consumed quickly under cold conditions),
  • Flashlight/headlamp + batteries,

  • Swimsuit (to visit the thermal baths of Aguas Calientes)
  • Snacks (biscuits, energy bars, chocolate, raw fruits, muesli, etc.) Please note: we do provide a daily morning snack and our meal service is very complete and well supplied. The recommendation of taken own snack applies only for customers who like a specific snack that might not be in our menu.
