About this activity
(8:30am) – Pick up from your hotel in the Sacred Valley
(8:30am-9:00am) -Private transportation will take us to the town of Urubamba where we will eat a light Andean style breakfast in the Market of Small Producers.
(9:00am-10:30) – Drive to the Pachar Community to visit the hidden Incan Caves, an ancient ceremonial site where we can find incredible stone carvings.
(10:30am-12:20pm) – Visit of the non-traditional Ruins of Pynkoylluna in Ollantaytambo. These ruins offer a spectacular view of the entire town of Ollantaytambo.
(1:00pm-2:00pm) – Indigenous local “Mamacha” will be waiting for us in her own home in the community of Huycho with a delicious lunch cooked with ingredients native to the area and prepared using traditional ceramic cookware. As we enter the home of a native Andean we gain a deeper understanding of life in the Sacred Valley of the Inkas.
(2:00pm-2:40pm) – Transportation will take us toward the Andean community of Arin where we will take a small trek up a mountain side to a waterfall and have a unique and breathtaking view of the Sacred Valley on this truly beautiful spot.
(2:40pm-3:00pm) – We will drink a traditional “Chicha de Jora” in a typical “Chicheria.” The “Chicheria” is the lifeblood of socio- economic community in the Sacred Valley. We will discuss how Chicha de Jora is produced and how it contributes so greatly to local Andean culture.
(3:00-4:00pm) – Visit of the hidden and Sacred Ruins of Urco, a mysterious and forgotten ritual ground. We will have a brief explanation of the sites and some time to walk around and explore at your leisure.
(4:00pm-4:30pm) – Drive back to your hotel.
Recommendations: Warm jacket (preferably water proof or water resistant), camera, sunglasses, bug repellent, comfortable hiking shoes, cash on hand.
