DAY 1: LIMA ARRIVAL
Transfer from airport to your hotel
DAY 2: FLIGHT LIMA – CUSCO (B)
Fly to Cusco and the city tour will start at 13:00 pm. We explore the city by foot to appreciate the Inca walls and architecturally extravagant colonial churches and palaces. This also includes a visit of Koricancha. After this we take a short drive to visit Sacsayhuaman along with Tambomachay. At the end of this long day, we'll transport you to your hotel for some much needed rest.
DAY 3: SACRED VALLEY (8:30 AM – 18:00 PM) (B, L)
We will do the Sacred Valley Tour: visiting Pisac, Ollantaytambo. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. On our way back to Cusco we will stop in Chinchero, a place where the townspeople are famed for their preservation of traditional Andean spinning and weaving techniques. Early the next morning we will pick you from your hotel and take you, by bus, to the train station at Ollantaytambo, where we will take the train to the starting point of our trek, Km 104. The journey to the starting point takes between around 3 or 4 hours. Along the way we will see beautiful landscapes, mountains, Andean towns, snowy mountains, and the Sacred Valley.
DAY 4: SHORT INCA TRAIL (FIRST DAY) (B, L)
Once we arrive at Km 104 (starting point of the trek) we check in at the main gate, the first step on our big adventure to Machu Picchu. The first archeological site we will visit is Chachabamba (2,050 meters above sea level), known for its beautiful construction and location. After that, we will ascend slowly for about 3 hours to the fascinating archeological center of Wiñaywayna (2,650 masl), where we will enjoy its charms and while we eat our boxed lunches. After a short break, we will continue through the semi-tropical forest to the mystical Intipunku (Sun Gate). From here, we will get a first glimpse of the enigmatic citadel of Machu Picchu and the surrounding mountain peaks, valleys and the Urubamba River. From Intipunku we will descend for around 30 minutes to the citadel where we will take a break to rest and take pictures. Finally, we will take the bus to Aguas Calientes (2,030 meters), where we will spend the night in the chosen hotel and visit the hot springs. After a good rest we will get together with the group to have dinner.
DAY 5: MACHU PICCHU (INCA TRAIL – SECOND DAY) (B)
After an early, warm breakfast, we will take the first bus to Machu Picchu. The guided visit inside the citadel will take about 2 or 3 hours. After that, we will have the opportunity to freely explore the wonderful lost city of the Incas. In the afternoon, we will go back to Aguas Calientes to take the train back.
DAY 6: TRANSFER HOTEL – CUSCO AIRPORT (B)
We will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the airport of Cusco so you can take your flight back home.
