About this activity

Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain (Natural Attraction)

Distance: 15-30 min walk Altitude: 16,000ft/4880m Rating: easy Pick up from hotel in Cusco: 5 am. Much of this journey is done by car, as you will travel 3.5 hours from Cusco to reach Tres Rainbows near the town of Palccoyo. This recently discovered group of rainbow-colored mountains is a stunning option away from the crowds. This option is great for those wanting to experience high mountain culture and some remote beauty, without the strenuous hiking. This is also a great option for families with children. Given good weather we will spend 1-2 hours exploring the area, taking photographs, and enjoying the snacks. Following this,

At 11:00am the trip continue to Queswachaca (Cultural Immersion) the Last Inca Bridge, approximately with south-west direction. After almost 1.30 hours, we will arrive at the Apurímac River and the impressive Inca Bridge. This hanging Inca Bridge is made of vegetable fiber (Ichu) and is located on the Apurímac River in the district of Quehue. The existence of this bridge dates from the Inca times, the renovation and maintenance is done once a year by the local people of the four communities that are around. Before beginning with the renewal of the bridge an offering is given as a sign of respect and gratitude to the Pachamama. After that, we will visit the Qarañawi, caves formed of stalactites and stalagmites. With an impressive route in the interior of the same, finding capricious forms and figures realized by the own nature. For this we need to provide good flashlights 

 

If we have extra time we will stop in each of the next four lagoons: Pomacanchi Lagoon, Acopia Lagoon, Laguna Asnaqocha and thePampamarca or Tungasuca Lagoon.

We will depart back to Cusco. Drop off at hotel in Cusco: 6 - 7 pm
