Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Soyroccocha

Stop At: Humantay Lake, Cusco 08001 Peru
We will pass by your hotel early in the morning at 4:30 hours and after 3 hours get to the village of Mollepata where you can buy some snacks. From here we will climb with the vehicle to Soraypampa where we start the trek to our first point, the Laguna del Humantay, which is an hour away from the route. After appreciating the lagoon and the Salkantay reserve, we will return to the main road and continue to Salkantaypampa where we'll have lunch in front of the glacier. After lunch we retake our ascent for 1 hour and arrive at Soyroccocha located at the foot of the Salkantay. We will install our first camp and enjoy a dinner in front of the Salkantay mountain.

Day 2: Salkantay and Humantay Mountains

Stop At: Salkantay Trail, Peru
After breakfast, we will walk for 1 hour to reach the pass which is the highest point of the trek (4.600 meters). Here you will find yourself in the midst of two large Salkantay mountains (6271 meters m) and Humantay (5850 M.A.S.L.). Salkantay is the second highest and most important mountain in the region of Cusco. In addition, along the way we will be able to observe the great Lake of Salkantay with its waters of glacial origin. Then we descend to RAYANNIYOC where we will have lunch. We finally continued for 3 more hours down the mountain to our second camp in Colpapampa.

Day 3: Colpapampa - Aguas Calientes

Stop At: Salkantay Trail, Peru
After breakfast we have a 3-hour descent towards La Playa (2050 m). As we continue with the descent we can appreciate a varied vegetation with citrus fruit trees, avocados, bananas and coffee plants. We have lunch on the beach and then resume our way for 3 hours uphill through the cloud forest. We will pass through the puncuyoc abra and reach the archaeological area of Llactapata (2700msnm). Then we follow the 2-hour walk between Hidroelectrica et Aguas Calientes. When we arrive in Aguas Calientes we go to the hostel to rest before the day in Machu Picchu.

Day 4: Machu Picchu

Stop At: Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu, Machu Picchu Peru
Early in the morning we will leave to finally reach the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, climbing the stairs during 1 hour and half or taking a bus (not included) during 30 minutes. We will have a 2 hours tour in Machu Picchu with our guide to then have free time on the archaeological site. In the afternoon, we are scheduled to return to Aguas Calientes Village and then take the train to Ollantaytambo and our transport from Ollantaytambo to your hotel in Cusco or going back to Hidroelectrica and take the bus from Hidroelectrica to Cusco.
