About this activity
You'll be picked up from your hotel at 7am, to head to the town of Pisac and then ascend to the community of Amaru in Yachaq’s Land. Here, you will be greeted with music and beautiful native flowers next to a symbolic Mother Earth or Pachamama offering, to thank for this new day and sharing among brothers of different cultures.

After the welcome, you are invited to accompany the villagers to the collection of flowers and leaves that serve as inputs to make natural dyes, plant gives us the Pachamama. You will also discover the medicinal and culinary properties of some of these plants.Continue with a brief explanation and demonstration of shearing, spinning and start skein of wool and then a demonstration of dyeing and color fastness in wool, to complete the process of hand weaving. You can get into the entire handmade weaving process, sheering and hand spinning the wool, dyeing the fibers and doing the design in the warp and wefts, and finally weave in the “telar de cintura” or waist loom, traditionally used by the local women to weave. Learn the ancient techniques, take pictures, and be part of the whole process to make our own textile.

The iconography used in each of these mantles is loaded with an important symbolic value for the villagers of Amaru which tell of the meanings of some of the most important reasons. Finally, you'll turn to the exhibition hall of the finished garments where you can buy the variety of textiles (blankets, table runners, scarves, shawls, chuspas or Andean bags, belts etc.). Then, you'll taste a delicious lunch prepared with Andean ingredients of the area.

In the afternoon, you will head back to Cusco or to your hotel in the valley, stopping to visit the Pisaq local market where you will see a huge variety of Sacred Valley handcraft. Arrival at Cusco is around 6pm.
