From Tra Nhieu Mat Village to Tra Que Vegetable Village

Discover little known places that have maintained their charm and authenticity in Vietnam on this day-tour. You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the shuttle to cross the river Thu Bon and into the Kim Bong carpenter’s village. Visit the shipbuilding workshop, as well as wood carving, mosaic and other workshops in the village. Learn how the locals make traditional wooden boats, woven with bamboo and palm trees.
Cycle to the Tra Nhieu mat village to listen to a history presentation. Following a path along the river, you will see coconut water, locals’ fishing nets and wild birds. Take a pleasant walk on a quiet bamboo bridge in the water coconut forest, then visit the locals crafting mats.
Next, you will cycle to Tra Que, the vegetable village. Here, about 150 farmers and 400 owners cultivate over 20 types of vegetables and herbs, including mint, basil, cilantro and broccoli. The farmers do not use pesticides but use natural fertilizers instead, in particular, a kind of seaweed that is in the river, harvested by gardeners by boat every morning. At the village, enjoy a welcome drink of basil juice and a stroll through the village to meet local people who work in the garden. The local farmers will teach you all about cultivation methods and how to protect developing vegetables from the insects. You can also join the farmers in gardening activities such as raking the ground, sowing, watering greens, transplanting and tending greens.
Then enjoy a foot bath with medicinal herbs, which is a traditional therapeutic practice. Then prepare lunch with a local family, where you will learn how to make spring rolls, pancakes. After lunch, take a short rest before returning to your hotel.
