About this activity
Enjoy wifi, unlimited soft drinks, snacks and a complimentary pick up at the Pugu Secondary School Bus Stand. Once you arrive at Karakana for the drama experience, you will be greeted with a welcome drink and cool cloth to refresh.
You will then meet your host and be given a playbill with write-ups on each drama as well as a one-on-one discussion about the inspirations behind them. Relax on the outside lounge area with a cool drink and some snacks as you enjoy the performances. An English translation will be provided throughout.
After each drama, you will enjoy a one-on-one discussion with each performer and you will receive messages compiled from the community about the theme of the drama. Each drama comes from Makini Organization, an organization working with young people previously and currently living on the streets in Dar es Salaam. A playbill of the performance and a journal with messages from the performers themselves will be given at the end of the experience.
After the dramas are finished, enjoy either a continental or Swahili meal and explore the curated selection of handicrafts from artisans across Tanzania. You are welcome to relax on the outside baraza (lounge area), or to enjoy a day bed or a drink at the tanga stone bar. Your experience will end with a drop off at the Pugu Secondary School Bus Stop, with a postcard connecting you to the community partners your experience supports.
