About this activity
After an early start from Darwin, relax on the 90-minute journey to the stunning rock formations and waterfalls of Litchfield National Park. Following the Stuart Highway, you’ll pass a low-lying landscape of palms and red desert bushland.

Just before entering Litchfield National Park, take a guided tour to see the massive Magnetic and Cathedral termite mounds soaring 20 feet (6 meters) into the air. These amazing insect habitats are made up of intricate arches, tunnels and chimneys, which can be easily viewed from a series of nearby boardwalks.

Continuing into Litchfield National Park, you’ll explore the park’s streams and sandstone escarpments, and enjoy a swim in Florence and Wangi waterfalls (seasonal) and enjoy a barbecue lunch. Then watch waterfalls cascade into Buley Rockhole, a series of falls and holes offering ideal spots to swim and relax, before returning to Darwin in the early evening.

We had a lovely day trip to Litchfield National Park with Joey as our tour guide. We enjoyed the chance to swim, swim and swim again as well as get up close to the Cathedral Termite mounds which are amazing. It was a nice surprise to take a short walk through the cool rainforest at the first waterfall and then enjoy the BBQ lunch. Thanks for the relaxing and refreshing finish to our holiday in the Northern Territory.

We got to see everything we were hoping for. Driver Joey gave great commentary and had excellent knowledge of his part of the country. He also served up a great bbq lunch and gave us plenty of time at each of the stops. A very enjoyable day and well worth the money.

We had a most enthusiastic and helpful guide, Joey for this trip. Size of group was small as stated which was great. Joey was respectful and knowledgeable about aboriginal culture. Join this tour if you like swimming in waterholes or by waterfalls. Three in a day!

This tour exceeded our expectations, our guide Joey was very knowledgeable and interesting. He knew the better less busy spots to swim so we weren’t crowded with all the other tourists. We made string from plants, used leaves as sandpaper, ate green ants straight from the nest. Joey brought along special rocks to make paint with and painted one of us as the indigenous would do. I would highly recommend this tour over the big bus type.

This tour - a great bathing and swimming in three different fresh water lakes and streams, like in a very beautiful place. Perfectly spent time for a reasonable price. And a good opportunity to see the construction of termites, as well as flying foxes in the forest. The guide was good
