Day1. Arrive in Datong
Greet at the airport/train station by your friendly local guide. Transfer to your downtown hotel and check in. The rest of the day will be left on your own.

Day2. Datong
After breakfast, head for the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Yungang Grottoes, comprising of over 200 caverns, housing more than 50,000 Buddha Statues. Afterwards, drive back to downtown Datong to admire Huayan Monastery, enjoy the magnificent Buddhism wall paintings and great statues of Buddha of three periods. Marvel at Nine-Dragon Screen, the largest one in China, and discover why it is even bigger than the one in Forbidden City.
Return to your hotel and enjoy your free night time. (B)
Day3. Datong-Pingyao
Depart Datong and drive to Pingyao. Pay a visit to the miraculous Hanging Monastery on Mount Hengshan, known as the most spectacular and mysterious architectural miracle on the history. Discover how this monastery survived in the cliff for over 1400 years. Make a stop at Wooden Pagoda in Ying County. Learn about the importance of bracket used on this fully wooden structure.
Check in at the hotel in Pingyao and relax for the rest of the day. (B)

Day4. Pingyao
Leave for exploration in Pingyao Ancient Town. Start with Rishengchang Draft Bank, known as the precedent of modern Chinese banks. Move to Ancient City Wall, take a walk on top of the well preserved wall and take a panoramic view of the ancient town. Stroll along Ming and Qing Street, the most bustling commercial centre of Pingyao ever since 1856 AD. (B)
Day5. Pingyao-Taiyuan
Visit Qiao Family Compound fully showcasing the unique architectural style of the residence in North China during the Qing Dynasty, and explore Shuanglin Monastery boasting a long history of over 1,400 years. Later in the day, make a stop at Jinci Temple and admire its grand historical buildings, gardens and superior sculptural works. (B)
