About this activity

This private New Delhi sightseeing tour kicks off at your hotel, where you’ll meet your friendly English-speaking guide and travel in air-conditioned comfort to Bahai Temple. Known by locals as the Lotus Temple because of its ornate exterior that looks similar to this iconic flower, this religious structure has a rich history that your guide will share as you tour the grounds.

Next, venture to the UNESCO World-Heritage-listed Qutub Minar. Its towering spire stands some 238 feet high (73 meters) making it the tallest minaret in all of India. Wander the grounds where you’ll meet up with a famed fortuneteller who carries a pet parrot and take the opportunity to have your future predicted (at your own expense).

After learning about this impressive mosque from your expert guide, head to the eclectic Dilli Haat. This open-air craft and food bazaar offers a true taste of local life. Enjoy lunch from any of the many permanent food stalls and then comb through the market where your guide can serve as a translator between you and vendors. Dilli Haat is filled with camel-skin footwear, rosewood carvings, rocks, gems and other handmade items.

Pass by some of the city’s top sites on your drive back to the hotel. You’ll see India Gate—built to commemorate soldiers who died in WWI—and the presidential house from the comfort of your vehicle. Your guide will be happy to stop for photos at any of the attractions, which also include the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Humayun’s Tomb, where the Mughal Emperor Humayun is laid to rest.

Complete the day with your complimentary souvenir before returning to your hotel. Ladies will experience the art of mehndi (henna tattoo) and men’s heads will be wrapped in a traditional pugree (turban).
