About this activity

Old Delhi offers a sedate blend of culture, art and modern architecture. It is home to numerous breathtaking historical buildings, which are now counted as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Be its pristine temples, exquisite architecture, plethora of shopping markets and eatery stops, it has everything to offer. Simply put, this heritage tour offers a diversity of experiences of this culturally-vibrant city – Old Delhi.

The lifeline of Delhi is Old Delhi which speaks of its own history. It is a perfect example of India’s heritage, cultural traditions and culinary experiences. On this tour, you can interpret the true essence of Indian culture.

As your day begins in the city of Delhi, you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Old Delhi. Upon reaching Old Delhi, your first destination will be Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib that serves as both a Mosque and a Gurudwara.

Next, you will head to the Jama Mosque, India’s largest mosque. After a visit to this wonderful monument, your heritage tour will proceed with a visit to Asia’s largest spice market “Khari Baoli” located in Chandni Chowk and offering a wide variety of spices, nuts, herbs, teas and other items. After an unforgettable experience at Khari Baoli, you will reach Kinari Bazaar, a wholesale retail market selling an exclusive collection of jewellery and traditional festive dresses.

Soon after, you will head on a street food tour of Old Delhi. You will first be taken to Parathe Wali Gali, known as Delhi’s world famous back street serving North Indian parathas. A paratha is basically a ball of dough filled with a choice of ingredients and spices and served with a variety of curry sauces and chutneys. After relishing a plate of scrumptious Parathas, it’s time to grab a Samosa (wheat flour or maida flour shell stuffed with filling). Also, you will try yet another delicacy called “Dahi Bhalle” prepared from Lentil dumplings served in chilled sweet yogurt and delicious chutneys. Any meal is incomplete without a dessert and nothing can beat Jalebis, a perfectly-sweet Indian sweet.

After a gastronomical walk around Old Delhi, its time for a rickshaw ride from Fatepuri Masjid to the Red Fort for the famous sound and light show. The breathtaking sound and light show at the Red Fort is a major tourist attraction, bringing back the history surrounding the Red Fort. This show has received great attention over the years as it showcases the making of Delhi and the rise and fall of empires and emperors in a single streamlined show. After an enjoyable evening, you will be dropped off at your hotel in Delhi.
