About this activity
Begin your tour to this cultural capital of the UAE with a visit to Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, that holds thousands of rare and important Islamic artefacts. Just about everything you might be interested to know about Islam is addressed in this well-curated museum including different aspects of the Islamic faith, the ritual and importance of the hajj, and Arab scientific accomplishments, especially in mathematics and astronomy. Navigate through 1400 years of Islamic art and artefacts, including ceramics, woodwork, textiles and jewellery.
From here, you will drive towards Souk Al Arsa, one of the oldest souks in the UAE that’ll take you on a journey back into the way people lived, prayed, studied and made a living 200 years ago. Stroll across the narrow lanes that once crawled with traders from Persia and India and local Bedouins stocking up on supplies. Feel free to shop for pashminas, dhallahs (coffee pots), herbs and spices, old khanjars (daggers) and traditional jewellery in air-conditioned comfort.
Drive through the city of Sharjah and stop for a picture in front of the largest mosque in the emirate - King Faisal Mosque. With its charming and captivating timeless architecture, the mosque definitely deserves a quick photo before moving on to Souk Al Markazi, better known as the Blue Souk. The largest souk in the emirate is characterized by its special Arabic Islamic design work and is home to a large collection of antiques, carpets, gifts, electronics, gold, gems and jewelry in a total of 600 shops.
