Giant's Causeway Tour from Dublin

1 day
About this activity
Need a breather from the hustle and bustle of Dublin? Take the opportunity to venture beyond the city's concrete jungle and visit the legendary UNESCO world heritage site, the Giant's Causeway in County Antrim. Stand before one of the world's most breathtaking coastlines, marvel at the wide open sea, and admire its blue waters as you revel in the tranquil ambient noise generated by crashing waves. The coastline was formed by a volcanic eruption and the result is a stunning basalt landscape. You'll get to walk up and down the basalt columns and appreciate the beautiful rock formations that make up the causeway. As you walk around it, you'll hear wonderful tales and commentary concerning the landscape from an engaging and insightful tour guide; you'll find out how significant it is to Irish folklore. After two hours of romping around the causeway, you'll visit two attractions that became famous because they were used as filming locations for the beloved Game of Thrones television show. The first of the two is the Dark Hedges, a peculiar avenue with beech trees that form a rather creepy tunnel with a foreboding atmosphere. It's even said that a ghost known as the Grey Lady haunts the place. The other one is Dunluce Castle, a ruined medieval castle that sits on an edge of an outcrop, surrounded by steep cliffs. This is definitely a tour for the ages and it's a must for nature lovers as well as fans of Game of Thrones.
