About this activity
This is a private guided tour and as such you are free to change the route, stops and sights at any point. Your friendly guide will work with you from the get go in order to personalise the tour to suit your interests and preferences. Below is an example of what to expect.

Collecting you directly from your place of stay in Dublin you’ll take the more scenic east coast route towards Wicklow Goal. One of Ireland’s top attractions, Wicklow Gaol tells the story of its prisoners through an interactive tour led by experienced and passionate actor guides. Spend some time tracing your Irish roots at the Wicklow Genealogy Room in Wicklow Goal.

Stop of for a bit of lunch or to purchase some world famous Throws & Blankets at Avoca Handweavers before heading on your way to Glendalough. Avoca is an Irish-run company that started as a manufacturer back in 1723. Avoca spans one of the world’s oldest surviving manufacturing companies.

Up next. The monastic city of Glendalough. Situated within the glacial valley of Glendalough, the monastic city, founded in the 6th Century by St. Kevin has been visited throughout history for its mystical temptations. Take some time to explore the grounds and see its unique wildlife. The Round Tower and Monuments provide a great opportunity to get some memorable photographs.

By taking your guide’s advice on duration you should still have time to visit The Powerscourt Estate. Powerscourt gardens also known as the “Garden of Ireland” were recently voted No.3 in the World’s Top Ten Gardens by National Geographic. Stretching over 47 acres the gardens offer a sublime blend of formal gardens, sweeping terraces, statues, ornamental lakes, secret hollows and rambling walks. The gardens were established and have been designed from 1731 onwards.

You can be dropped off anywhere back in Dublin city as you wish. Other noteworthy stops you can take along this route are Sallys Gap, Lough Tay (Guinness Lake), Powerscourt Waterfall, A traditional Irish pub for some food and a Guinness or perhaps the Military Road. Please chat to you guide about these.

Please note entrance fees into the sites are excluded in the tour price. Entrance fees are priced approx €7-10 per Adult at all sites. Reduced student, senior and group rates are available from Powerscourt, Glendalough and Wicklow Goal.

The tour uses a mix between private guides and Taxi guides. All guides are very friendly, experienced, passionate and knowledgeable in the History of Ireland. Taxi guides give the advantage of using bus lanes in order to avoid being stuck in traffic around the city. Some of our vehicles are equipped with free WIFI. Please ask your guide should you wish to check the availability of their WIFI.

Please note pickup from Dublin Airport is available. There is a small excess in order to be collected privately from the Airport.

The sights are breathtaking but to fully appreciate the tour, you need a tour guide that is both informative and entertaining. Our guide and tour owner, Jimmy Mulrooney, provided facts and fables, political history, cultural history, literary history and all with a twinkle in his eye. He does not rush you through the sites. Many companies offer this private tour. I would definitely suggest finding Jimmy's tour!

The weather and our wishes changed the plan, so we didn't do the described tour at all. Our driver guide Alan was able to put together just what fit us in devising a customized itinerary. When you don't want to follow the crowd or get on another bus, do this! You're worth it.

Im not sure how to rate this tour!! For some reason our guide, William Redmond, who was a very nice guy told us we did not have time to go Glendalough---which was the major part of this tour!!! We did go to the waterfall and Powerscourt gardens. Both were lovely but I feel that we paid a lot to do just these two places. He then stopped in a little town that was on the way back for about 45 minutes to kill time! We were very disappointed and feel that we were charged way too much for this tour!!! I would really think twice about using Viator again! I have recommended your company to many others and will not be doing that any longer as I do not want to hear complaints from my family and friends! I would appreciate your following up on this and getting back to me! Thank you! Lynn Jackson

Tony was a fabulous guide! Powerscourt was absolutely beautiful as was Glendalough. He brought us to a different waterfall that was off the beaten path and completely deserted. We had a wonderful drive through Wicklow.

Went above and beyond to make this tour happen for us. Fantastic communication and just the loveliest organization. Tour itself was beautiful with lots of interesting facts. We had an informative but unobtrusive driver who knew the best places to go. Highly recommend.
