Dalmatia Day Tour from Dubrovnik with Salt Ponds
1 day
About this activity
On our way to Ston we will make a stop at the village of Orašac and visit a family house where the host will present us the traditional mill.
One of highlights of our excursion is Ston with its 5-kilometre long walls, a town built in the 15th century according to a plan with a rectangular layout of streets and squares. Ston is renowned for its delicious oysters and mussels that we recommend you to taste in one of the local restaurants. Another landmark of Ston are its old salt ponds where the salt is still gathered the old way.
We continue to the Arboretum in Trsteno with a 15th century summer residence of the Dubrovnik patrician family Gucetić-Gozze surrounded by a beautiful Renaissance garden.
Enjoy a view from its pavilion over the islands or take a walk to the baroque Neptune’s Fountain immersed in the luxuriant subtropical vegetation of magnolia, black bamboo, laurel, eucalyptus, palm and camphor trees. Trsteno is also famous for its two giant 500-year old plane trees.
