Full Day Biking tour to Rural and Wine region Konavle from Dubrovnik

This circular 25 km long course is consisted of 20 km on the paved road and 5 km on the gravel road. Most of the route is flat or downhill. There is altogether 375 meters of altitude gain, which puts this tour into a category of easy-going biking routes.
Starting from Dubrovnik, we’ll take a minibus into the beautiful Konavle region, located just half an hour south of Dubrovnik. Beneath craggy cliffs, a valley is bordered by a river and filled with vineyards.
The northern mountain part, which borders to Bosnia and Herzegovina and to Montenegro, is dominated by the mountain massif of Sniježnica. The Sniježnica peak at 1234 meters of altitude is the highest point of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County and village of Kuna with its 700 m altitude is the highest village in the county.
Biking starts near an old village of Drvenik. First part consist of rolling hills and some moderate climbs until we reach next village – Pridvorje. From here on, we will enjoy downhills and flat parts while passing through various small villages with mostly traditional stone houses. This part of the tour also offers incredible views on Konavle valley and Adriatic sea in the distance.
As we descent from, locally known as „the upper road“, down to the valley, we’ll ride to the Ljuta River to see a presentation — reenacted by a local in authentic period clothes — of how people used to grind wheat and corn into flour using the old river mill. You will also have the chance to try some local delicacies – home made liquors, dried figs, almonds, and candid orange and lemon peels.
 Next place we’ll visit is the beautiful Vinica restaurant located on the Ljuta river where we’ll relax and try a gourmet light lunch accompanied by a selection of local wines (optional).
Part two of our Konavle adventure carries us over to nearby town of Gruda where we will enter in Konavle field and ride on the gravel road, passing orchards, vineyards, fields and farms, pastures, sheep and cows.
We will leave the field behind and connect back to paved road close to the Franciscan Monastery in Pridvorje, where we will have a short break to relax and learn about the old cloister, and it’s interesting history. From there, it’s an easy run almost to the end of the trip, but not quite. Last order of business is short uphill run to our car and one final view of the valley and the trip you’ve just finished.
