About this activity
Start your day with a pickup from your centrally located Dubrovnik hotel, and then travel with your private guide to the small town of Ston on Peljesac Peninsula. As you travel, chat with your guide about the scenic south Dalmatia region and the sights that you particularly want to see. Your itinerary is flexible so if there’s something you want to see more of, simply let your guide know.

After roughly an hour on the road, arrive in Ston and stretch your legs on a walking tour of the pretty coastal town. Pose for pictures by the so-called Great Wall of Croatia – Ston’s major claim to fame – and hear how it is said to be one of the world’s largest fortified city walls. The Peljesac area is rich in natural resources, with salt and wine lauded as the peninsula’s biggest exports, so visit the town’s old salt factory and hear tales about the pure salt harvest.

Enjoy a break for lunch in town (own expense) and then return to your minivan to continue your tour. Travel along the undulating coastline of Peljesac Peninsula and, in between gazing at the turquoise Adriatic Sea, stop at three family-run wineries to sample their wares. Plavic mali is the region’s principle grape and, while your wine samples vary on each occasion, chances are that you will taste several made from the ubiquitous grape. Snacks such as artisan cheese and bread are often served alongside the wine.

If you want to learn more about southern Dalmatia’s cuisine, then perhaps swap one of your winery visits with a seafood-tasting session at coastal fish farm. Sample fresh local oysters or mussels while learning about the region’s renowned fishing heritage.

After exploring the region and sampling its fine produce, return to your minivan and travel back to Dubrovnik. Your tour finishes with a drop-off at your Dubrovnik hotel.

Tour guide was professional and was able to speak fluent English, his plans for those 3 wineries, oyster and salt farms with a walk to the little city walls were good. His pick of restaurant for lunch was also a highlight! The tour will be perfect if we could visit one of the vineyards there!

My wife and I had an absolutely delightful time with Drezen on our day to Ston and the Peljesac Peninsula! He was so pleasant and shared so much about the culture of Croatia during our journey. We first got picked up in Dubrovnik, and then were driven to Ston where we had an hour to explore the city and we ended up buying a ticket to walk on the walls there (definitely recommend). Then we drove a bit further to the 3 wineries that Drezen had selected. All awesome and unique in their own way. We purchased a lot of wine to bring home, and even had some shipped back to our house in the States. After the 3 wineries, he took us to Mali Ston where we enjoyed a really nice lunch on the water with some super fresh fish, oysters, and other shellfish. My wife and I both agree it was our favorite day during our trip. Would recommend to anyone.

Drazen was our private guide. After a few misunderstandings where we were meeting him, the office finally got us in touch with Drazen and we had a glorious day. A comfortable ride in a Mercedes through the beautiful countryside to wine country. Visited 3 vineyards, one being Grgich Hills. While the wine there was no where near as delicious as the one from Napa, the scenery and views in Napa were no near as beautiful as this small unpretentious vineyard. Filling the vineyards, we went to Ston, known for their shellfish. Devoured oyster after ouster and drank wine, again while looking at a beautiful vista. Drazen had a bunch of great surprises included for us that I won’t spoil for future travelers. I highly recommend the local tours through Viator and would highly Drazen as your guide ahould you find yourself in Dubrovnik, Croatia

My husband and I booked this tour as part of our honeymoon and were really excited to drink wine and eat oysters. The tour provider emailed me the day before to set the pick-up time and location. The tour lists 10am as the start time, however via email I was told we needed to start between 7 am and 8 am to avoid potentially long lines at the border...weird but ok, maybe it is further away than I thought. NO - you do not cross a border and it took approximately 45 minutes - 1 hour to reach Ston. Do you know what there is to do there at 8:30 in the morning? Nothing. Needless to say we did not have oysters in Ston. Our driver questioned why we started so early and was shocked to hear it was the agency. We wandered the town of Ston until it was an acceptable time and the wineries opened! to visit the wineries. The wineries were great and the wine very good. Our driver was very nice and personable. He took us to a small eatery for oysters and mussels which was a definite highlight. They were so fresh! Overall the trip was good but the early start threw the entire day off and resulted in us feeling this tour is definitely not worth the cost.

Excellent tour and highly recommend. There were three wineries, but the best was a family owned one named Milos. Also, the visit to Ston was interesting as was our lunch at this location.
