Itinerary

Day 1: Discover the haunting beauty of Highland Perthshire and the history of the Jacobites and Highland Culture.

Stop At: The Hermitage Woodland Walk, Just off A9 at Dunkeld, Dunkeld Scotland
Our first stop allows us a chance to stretch our legs in one of the best spots in Highland Perthshire. We will enjoy a walk through a woodland which features a diverse collection of mixed conifer and deciduous trees, including one of Britain’s tallest Douglas fir trees. As we continue along the trail, we will arrive at the beautiful Black Linn Falls.

Stop At: Pitlochry VisitScotland iCentre, 22 Atholl Road Perthshire, Pitlochry PH16 5BX Scotland
Pitlochry is a pretty Victorian town where we will have the chance to have some free time for lunch. There will also be time for a little shopping at the many Scottish shops including the Heather Gems factory and Exhibition.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Queen's View, Pitlochry Scotland
We will make a short stop at Queen's View which has spectacular views over Loch Tummel and the Schiehallion.
Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre, Culloden Moor IV2 5EU Scotland
We will spend some time discovering the Jacobites and the last pitched battle on Brittish soil.
Duration: 1 hour 20 minutes

Stop At: Clava Cairns, National Grid Reference: NH 757 444 off the B9006, 6 km from Inverness Scotland
We will enjoy a short stop at this 4000-year-old burial site. Here you will have the chance to walk around the burial cairns and standing stones.

We will then make our way to Inverness where you will spend one night. You will be dropped off at your accommodation for around 6pm. Inverness accommodation not included.

Day 2: Explore 3 castles - ruined, rebuilt and lived as well as hunting for a monster in Loch Ness.

Stop At: Urquhart Castle, A82 Road, Drumnadrochit IV63 6XJ Scotland
You will check out of your Inverness accommodation for 9 am (exact time will be defined by where you are staying in Inverness). We will then visit the ruins of Urquhart Castle where you will learn about its vast history while having the chance to dip a hand into Loch Ness and try some Nessie spotting from some of the best vantage points on the Loch.

Stop At: Ratagan to Glenelg, Old Military Road, Ratagan Scotland
We will make a short photographic stop to see the beautiful views of Glen Shiel, Glenelg and of course the 5 Sisters of Kintail.
Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Eilean Donan Castle, Kyle of Lochalsh IV40 8DX Scotland
We will stop by the rebuilt Eilean Donan Castle on Lochalsh. It has been used in Hollywood for Highlander and more recently, the new Robert the Bruce film. Eilean Donan also holds the accolade for one of Scotland's most photographed castles.

You will have the opportunity to grab a quick lunch in the castle's cafe.

Stop At: Neist Point, Glendale Scotland
We will visit the most Westerly point on Skye where on a clear day you can view the Uists.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Dunvegan Castle & Gardens, Dunvegan IV55 8WF Scotland
The ancestral seat of the Clan MacLeod for over 800 years, you will have the opportunity to explore the Clan Cheif's family home and gardens. If only the walls could talk!

We will then make our way Portree where the day will end around 6pm. Accommodation in Portree is not included. You will be staying in Portree for 2 nights.

Day 3: Walk in the steps of dinosaurs, Gaels and the wee folk.

Stop At: The Old Man of Storr, Scotland
We make our way down towards the Old Man of Storr view. If the weather is favourable, we will take the opportunity to hike to the top.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Lealt Falls, Portree Scotland
We will make a stop at the new Lealt Falls Viewing Platform. For those a little more adventurous, there will be time to go down to the Mine Viewing Platform but the path is uneven and there are some steep inclines to navigate.
Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Kilt Rock, Scotland
We will make a photo stop at Kilt Rock. This is a fantastic view of this iconic rock formation with information on the nearby Dinosaur discoveries on the island.
Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Flora MacDonald's Grave, Kilmuir Cemetery Kilmuir Church, Kilmuir IV51 9YX Scotland
Situated in the Island's Gaelic speaking heartland, you will find the Kilmui Cemetry where the Jacobite heroine Flora MacDonald is buried.
Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Fairy Glen, Scotland
We will then make a stop at the Fairy Glen by Uig where you can explore the Glen. The trails are very steep and uneven at this point but the views are worth it.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Portree VisitScotland iCentre, Bayfield House Bayfield Road, Portree IV51 9EL Scotland
We aim to be back in Portree for between 3 and 4 pm to allow you free some time to explore the island's capital. The tour on this day will end on arrival into Portree.

Day 4: Delve into the history of the Jacobites and Highland Culture.

Stop At: Taigh Cill Chriosd B8083, IV49 9AS Scotland
You will check out of your accommodation at around 9.30 am and we will make our way for the absolutely breathtaking Cill Chriosd (ruined church) which sits on the picturesque road to Elgol.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: CalMac Ferries Mallaig, Ferry Terminal,, Mallaig PH41 4QD, UK
We will then make our way Mallaig on the mainland by catching the ferry from Armadale. If there is time, you may have the opportunity to make a quick stop at the Torabhaig Whisky Distillery.

Stop At: Mallaig Heritage Centre, Station Road, Mallaig PH41 4PY Scotland
Once in Mallaig, you will enjoy some free time to enjoy some lunch before joining the Jacobite Steam Train (14.10 service)

Jacobite Steam Train tickets not included and early booking is essential to avoid disappointment. (Summer schedule only)

Stop At: Glenfinnan Monument, Glenfinnan PH37 4LT Scotland
For those not taking the Steam Train and for everyone during the Winter Schedule, we will enjoy a stop at the Glenfinnan Monument and views of its famous Viaduct used in filming Harry Potter.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Fort William VisitScotland iCentre, 15 High Street, Fort William PH33 6DH Scotland
We will then meet back up with those taking the steam train at the station.
Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: The Three Sisters, Scotland
We will then continue towards Glencoe where we will have a short photographic stop at the Three Sisters.
Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: An Ceann Mor, Near the National Park Visitor Centre, Inveruglas, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park G837OW Scotland
Our last stop on the tour will be at Inveruglas on the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. This will be a short comfort stop.

We will arrive back in Glasgow for 7 pm and Edinburgh for 8pm where the tour will end.
