About this activity
Once picked up, we will head for the old town. Experience the atmosphere and history of a stunning town dating back over a thousand years. See the majestic Edinburgh Castle at the top of the Royal Mile and head down to Holyrood Palace. On the way, we will soak up the history. Highlights include: Greyfriars Kirkyard (Burial site of Greyfriars Bobby, Tom Riddle, William McGonagall, Covenanters prison, St Giles Cathedral, Old Scottish Parliament, Mercat Cross, Mary Kings Close, The Tron Kirk, John Knox's house, World's End pub, Canongate, Old Tollbooth, Canongate Kirk (Adam Smith's grave), Bakehouse Close, New Scottish Parliament and finally The Palace of Holyroodhouse. After we have visited this, we head up towards the New town. See James Craig's 1767 masterplan of the New town. After visiting the old and new town, we will head to South Queensferry and view the Forth bridges that lead to the Kingdom of Fife. We will then head back to your hotel where the tour will finish.
