Private 3 Hour Tour of Edinburgh in a Spacious 6-seater Mercedes
Your experienced driver and guide of many years will collect you from your city centre hotel to begin your private tour of Edinburgh in a comfortable 6-seat Mercedes cab. With a clear intercom system between the driver/guide and passengers, your driver will provide a full commentary throughout your tour. Your driver welcomes any questions that you may have.
Your tour will commence in the Old Town, ensuring that you visit the high and the low points, both literally and historically. Have your camera at the ready because you are going to visit so many visual delights. During your tour, your guide will take you to the highest point of Edinburgh on the edge of the volcanic feature known as Arthur’s Seat for sensational views out over the city. Expect to visit one of the lowest points in the city, the infamous Grassmarket. Although this served as the medieval marketplace, it was also one of the main executions places. Your guide will tell you of some of the most fascinating stories associated with this area.
Then onwards to the Royal Mile, to include stops at the base of the towering and majestic 16th century Edinburgh Castle, followed by brief stops at Gladstone’s Land, Deacon Brodie’s, St Giles Cathedral, Mary King’s Close, Parliament Square, John Knox House, the Old Tolbooth, the Scottish Parliament, the Palace of Holyrood House.
Then your guide will take you over to the New Town, clearly defining the difference between this and the Old Town, and why so many of the wealthy chose to live here instead. A tour of Edinburgh would not be complete without a visit to the village within the city. The Dean Village sits on the edge of the Waters of Leith and provides an oasis of calm, away from the traffic and the hubbub of the city.
Your guide will then return you to a dropoff point of your choice in the Old Town.
