About this activity
This is a tour for those want to enjoy Scottish history and culture by visiting some of our most impressive and mysterious sites. We leave from Edinburgh’s most famous street, the Royal Mile, and head towards Dunfermline. You’ll get a chance to photograph and travel over the Forth Road Bridge—a Scottish icon and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our stop in Dunfermline gives you ample time to explore the Abbey Kirk here. It’s a lovely church and is the burial place of Robert the Bruce; you can view his tomb here during the summer season. We’ll also make a quick stop at the sight of the Battle of Bannockburn- the sight of Robert the Bruce and Scotland’s biggest victory—you’ll have the chance to photograph Bruce’s magnificent statue here.

Next we’ll head to Stirling Castle—the reconstructions of James IV’s hall and James V’s palace here have raised the bar for heritage practice worldwide. You’ll have over two hours here to explore the castle (own expense), see its grand rooms and learn about how life here once was. There are fantastic views from the battlements of the Wallace Monument and over the southern Highlands and the Ochil Hills. You’ll learn the true tale of Braveheart from your guide!

Our final stop of the day is at Rosslyn Chapel (own expense). Dan Brown set the climatic scenes of his novel The Da Vinci Code here you may recognise it from the film of the same name. You could spend hours mesmerised by the intricate carvings here. It is full of mystery and intrigue, and you’ll learn the stories behind individual carvings. You can also take a short walk over a bridge across a stunning steeply-sided valley and stream to the nearby Rosslyn Castle.

The driver was informative as to history location. He got us to our locations comfortable and in timely manner. I wish the cost of location had been included, not a big thing

What a lovely day we had! The tour was a rather small group of delightful people from all over, and we felt right at home. Our guide Greg was absolutely the key to enjoying the sights. Not only was he professional and very knowledgeable, but he was also pleasant and accommodating throughout the day. I would definitely recommend this tour while visiting Scotland.

We had a great day with our guide, I think his name was Steven B. The only part we would change is we would prefer to not stop at the bridges and see the Kelpies instead or have more time at Rosselyn Chapel. Rosselyn was the only site we felt rushed and would have liked about 15 more minutes. Overall though this was a perfect day trip. The driver gave lots of stories and history on the way and added some local culture with music and it was a lot of fun. We would go with this driver and this type of tour again for sure.

The church where Robert the Bruce was buried was underwhelming. Stirling Castle was good. The Abbey was great! Soo much for your eyes to feast on! My driver/guide Gary was absolutely amazing! Loved his sense of humor and he made the drive very enjoyable for everyone!

We had to pay entry fee for Roslyn Chapel. The booking never mentioned this and we thought that it was included in the cost of the overall tour cost

I would recommend this trip to anybody interested in the history of Scotland. It was very interesting to see the battle place and learn about Robert the Bruce. Stirling Castle was a revelation too.

Our guide, Nick, was wonderful on this trip. We enjoyed seeing the sights. Even though the air was broken on the bus, Nick did everything to make us as comfortable as possible.

David our bus driver and historical tour guide as we were driving was amazing. All the sites were incredible and our driver kept us entertained throughout our journey. We were never bored and so glad we had such a outstanding tour experience. This was our second tour with this company because our first tour with them was incredible.

Get your fix of Scottish history on this small group day excursion! I enjoyed exploring and learned a lot. The amount of time we spent at each place was reasonable. Going on a small group tour is a plus. Steven B was a knowledgable driver/guide. We got the real history behind the movie "Braveheart" and Robert the Bruce. If you have a limited amount of time in Edinburgh, I recommend this tour!

Obviously I let myself be fooled by the Da Vinci code, but in fact I expected the visit to Rosslyn's chapel to be much more exciting! Anyway, the tour was good and Scotland is my fav place in the world, so I liked it anyway.

This day tour was really nice. I booked this for me and my husband for the main reason that I wanted to go to Dunfermline Abbey and this was about the only day tour out there that offered it on the itinerary. It was easy to find the meeting point right on the Royal Mile, we left on time and had plenty of time at each place. Our tour guide, Chris, was wonderful. He was funny and informative. I was disappointed in that the description says you will enjoy breathtaking views from the top of the iconic Wallace Monument this statement is located in the very first part of the Overview, however our tour did not go to Wallace Monument at all. Nonetheless, this was a great tour and I would recommend it to others.

We've had previous tours before, but this one deserved 5 stars. Many thanks to Jamie our tour guide who made all the difference. He was very knowledgeable of all the sites and gave us very interesting facts. My wife and I agreed he was even better than the guided tour at one point. The tour was also well phased, giving enough time for each of the sites. This is one tour we really enjoyed.
