Arriving at Alnwick Castle around lunchtime you’ll stop here for a minimum of two-and-a-half hours. This amazing castle, one of Europe’s finest, has been the centre of many historical events – from bloodthirsty battles between the Scots and English to the intrigue of the Guy Fawkes plot. Its sumptuous setting and exquisite architecture has famously been used as a filming location, including the Harry Potter movies (Hogwarts) and Downton Abbey. Visit the new Downton Abbey exhibition featuring costumes, photography and props from the series and enjoy ‘Harry Spotter Tours’, revisiting some of your favourite scenes. Next door to the castle is the world-renowned Alnwick Garden, several acres of beautiful parks, woodland walks and the Poison Garden.

Holy island was great. Albwick Castle and gardens were amazing. Special attractions for Potter's fans. It cannot be miss

If you can, ask for Angela! This was a terrific day of stories, songs and beautiful countryside. Angela is a warm and joyful guide to the border region and its bloody history, and her road trip soundtrack is on point. She makes even bathroom stops into special moments. The 'viking' reference in the tour's title is slightly misleading as the histories covered here were post-Viking era. Lindisfarne is lovely - the free mead tastings are a highlight, and I'm usually a non-drinker! You need to time your activities at Alnwick Castle - they have a daily program. That bit is probably more appealing to the kids than the adults, although the historical talks are interesting.

Our tour guide Andy made this trip the best! He was funny, super knowledgeable and clearly loves his job. He made great recommendations and customized the tour so we could maximize our time. Holy Island is a cool place to see and Annick Castle was great too. The tour size was limited to 16, that was fantastic, you didnt feel like a face in the crowd it was a more personal experience. This tour was a lot of fun! Graham, our tour guide made it interesting, especially when we went to Holy Island and had to beat the tide. Great tale of his first trip there! The castle was wonderful and huge. Loved the Tree House! All in all a great day.

Loved the guide! Beautiful views, picturesque, Alnwick was gorgeous! Castle on Holy Island was being worked on, so covered and didn't get to see it.

We never saw anything related to vikings but holy island is a pièce of quietness . The castle was superb and worth the trip . And the driver was very good and interesting
