Vivac Cagliero Ice Trekking & Via Ferrata with Overnight

From 8 am we start the pick up at Hotels, to go to Reserva Los Huemules. At 9:00 AM from the Visi tor Center we will hike for 1.45 hours approximately through a lenga forest on a well maintained trail , reaching to Laguna Diablo ( 770mts. above sea level ) . Place from where you can see Puesto Cagliero. The second part of the activity takes place outside Reserva Los Huemules, on a private property.

Distance: 7 km / Ascent level : 300 mts. The second part consists of skirting the northern margin of Laguna Diablo through an irregular terrain until reaching the beginning of a “VIA FERRATA” ( rock climbing sectors of little difficulty that have previously been prepared with Steel wires and artificial steps, so that the passengers can move autonomously and self-secured with specially designed harnesses and bel ts). Before the beginning of this section, guides will provide the tourists the necessary equipment and a briefing on how to use the materials and make their safety way through the via ferrata. As they get on, the crossing becomes more entertaining, turning this part of the activity into a tour itself.

The overwhelming views of the Laguna Diablo and its homonymous valley get more stunning, step by step. It’s a 1 km course, time will depend on the group conditions. After an hour and a half we reach to Mirador del Glaciar ( Glacier Viewpoint ). Facing north we can appreciate the unexplored Glacier Cagliero Sur (950 masl), that for years was kept nonmelted thanks to its orientation and the accumulation of snow coming from Neumayer, Cagliero and Loma del Diablo mountain. Facing south we will see the vertical walls of Cerro Treinta Aniversario and surrounding needles, being the most important Diente del Diablo. From the viewpoint, a short walk takes us to the front of the Glacier - Vivac Cagliero front where the guides provide and fix the crampons to each participant. The average stay on the glacier will be 3 hours aprox, where you will have an initation of ice climbing, depending on the climate conditions and the physical level of the group. If the

weather is good, lunch will be taken on the Glacier. Total distance: 4 kms / Elevation: 400 mts

In the afternoon we will return to Vivac Cagliero, where you will have a hot drink with a wonderful view of the glacier. Later you will have dinner and spend the night in our Dome Vivac equipped with 6 beds. In the morning between breakfast and lunch we start returning.

We will return by the same Via Ferrata until the Domo Base, later we will take the trail to Laguna Verde and Laguna Azul from where we can appreciate the North face of the Fitz Roy. The meeting time with the El Chaltén transfer will be at 5.30 PM. Included: Day 1, regular transfer and dinner. Day 2, breakfast, lunch box and regular transfer Not included: lunch box day 1.
