Full-Day Tour to Essaouira - The Ancient Mogador City from Marrakech

Great day with adbul and aziz! It was a nice itinerary, knowledgeable guides, and a beautiful city to visit!

The full day excursion to Essaouira as part of our visit to Marrakech is worthy of special mention. Arrangements were confirmed the day before the trip by email and pickup at the hotel was right on schedule as advised. Our driver Abdul, arrived in a clean and modern vehicle and navigated the heavy morning traffic, briefly mentioning points of interest and answering our many questions. Along the way a stop was made to see the manufacturing of Aragan oil with no pressure to purchase any of the derivative products. On arrival to Essaouira, Abdul introduced us to Haziz, a native of the Mogador city, and seemingly known by everyone as we toured the ancient city. Haziz was a great ambassador of the city, pointing out how Jewish, Christian and Muslim faith citizens live in total harmony. The ambience of the city differs completely than the hustle and bustle of Marrakech, being much more laid back without the commercial pressures on visitors to purchase items on offer. The tour was followed by a seaside lunch and a time to relax or take a leisurely stroll. All in all, a great opportunity to experience a different lifestyle from the big city and understand the differing cultures in Morocco.

This is a very worthwhile trip to do whilst in Morocco. Abdul rahman was a great driver, very timely, arrived at the hotel punctually and greeted us well. We were very fond of his black Toyota land cruiser. It gave off the whole private tour aspect. He was very informative during the ride to Essouira. We stopped to admire the view as well as a short visit to a women institution where they greeted us with their traditional greeting song. We experienced their hand techniques behind making almond and argon oils before we were offered Moroccan tea and bread. Then off to Essouira where we met our lovely guide Ahmed. Ahmed explained the history of the city so well, that we would of considered staying there for a few days. The city itself is unique and beautiful with its traditional architecture mixed with a blue colour scheme throughout the city. This is definitely a site to see! We started by seeing the side of the old city with a walk through the markets. Ahmed was a very patient and a kind tour guide who helped us with our shopping throughout this part of the tour. He also helped carry our bags and take photos whenever we asked. We then visited the port, where we learnt quite a lot about the history of the city. Part of it was blocked off due to filming taking place, but that was also something interesting to see. The tour ended with the walk to the beach where we then met Abdul rahman. They took us to a local restaurant infront of the beach where we ate an i must say the food was AMAZING! Must try. After this we visited the beach and then left back for Marrakech, however it didn't end there. We needed more souvenirs and Abdul was such a kind person that he took us to the shop, waited for us and then also took us to burger king as we wanted food for the evening. Compared to the other tour guides he was the only one who went out of his way to fulfil all our request. For that we are very thankful. I had to mention this because all our other tour guides dropped us off if we wanted to get food and we made our own way back to the hotel, but with Abdul he waited whilst we got the food and then dropped us back to the hotel. If we met Abdul before we would of arranged all our tours with him! Definitely pick him if you want a private tour, with your own pace and choice. Thanks again for such an amazing experience!

This was a great trip. We actually got a private tour since it was the low tourism season August. Ismael, who drove us to Essaouira, was amazing. He was friendly and knowledgeable and kept us laughing the whole time. I'd highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for a day trip from Marrakech!

This was a wonderful day trip from Marrakech. The driver was right on time for the hotel pick-up and he made stops along the way. The guide in Essaouria was great. Both Abdul and Ahkmed made the tour very enjoyable.
