The trip was well worth it, the location was far from the lights of Fairbanks so we had a good clear view of the Aurora Borealis. The driver and staff made for a comfortable excursion. The cabin more like a well insulated yurt with a small restroom worked for our needs.

No fault of the guide but it was not a night to see the lights. The guide was a student not very interested in what he was doing. The water for tea or hot chocolate was luke warn and the cookies were poor so it wasnt a great place to sit although the windows were nice. It wasnt a cabin.

This was the worst paid tour through Viator that I have taken. The guide did nothing other than drive us to the hill and back to our hotels. Not a word about the aurora and how to best view. In addition, he kept the van running the entire time with the parking lights on. The yurt lights shone bright white all night as well. Every photograph is ruined my the red taillights and the yurt lights. You would think that a viewing tour would consider these factors. In addition, many non-English speaking participants wandered aimlessly infront of cameras, turned on their flashlights and took selfies. The yurt was nice, but the container with hot water for tea and coffee was empty 15 minutes into the tour with no more the rest of the evening. Half way through the tour, the other participants all loaded up into the van. Afraid of being left behind, I started packing my belongings. The guide came up and said I can keep taking pictures, that the other just wanted to set in the bus. Odd, since the yurt was far more comfortable. After 30 minutes the guide told me we were leaving. I packed up and boarded the bus. I was dropped off at my hotel at 2:30 even though the tour states 4am. For some reason the tour was cut short even though the night was beautiful and the northern lights were out. Based on this experience, I would never recommend nor take a tour through Viator in the Fairbanks area. I took a similar tour in Norway and it was the complete opposite of this with real guides who cared and provided much helpful information.
