About this activity
You'll be picked up from your Fairbanks hotel and driven to one of the best viewing lodges in the Fairbanks area. The lodge is carefully selected to ensure that guests can gaze upon the Northern Lights with ease. Outside of Fairbanks and away from the city lights, these wide-open areas ensure a perfect way to take in Alaska's winter sky.

Share the evening with a knowledgeable guide and learn all about these dancing lights. Enjoy the sights from inside the lodge, or even step outside to snap some photographs of the brilliant sky .

After an eventful night of Aurora viewing, guests are returned to their Fairbanks accommodation at 3am.

I thought this tour was poor. We were picked up and taken up to a mountain to view the Northern Lights. We were given no information or advice as to why these occur or what to expect. The people let us out, said there was a yurt to sit in and that was it. We were supposed to be able to have coffee and hot chocolate during the viewing however there was no electricity and all the pots didn't work. Don't waste your money on this one. The "guides" were terrible.

I only rate this tour as four stars because the Aurora was very active that night and we were able to see the Aurora dance for at least a couple of hours. It was indeed a treat. However, our driver or guide did not even say anything about the tour or the Aurora at all. He did not explain anything as to where we will be, what we could potentially see, nothing. I asked what is happening, what should we do next once he parked the van, and I did not hear a response. It would have been good if the person driving us would explain a little bit about what we were going to do, also show a bit of knowledge about the Aurora and what to expect. He just brought us to a place and let us do our own thing not even explaining that there was coffee, cup noodles and other stuff that we could have or buy, which was really frustrating. The description of the tour mentions, An informative guide explains the science behind the dancing lights streaming across the night sky. This is obviously not what we got. It appears that another group, who shares the same lodge had a better guide.

A great evening! Pick up at 10:15 - so take a nap before you go because we didn't get back until almost 4:00 am. A beautiful place to watch the Northern Lights! You can see the whole sky and it was breathtaking. A real help was the AppNorthern Lights Photo Taker that our guide. JT, told us about - i makes the photos from an IPhone so much better - and it's only 99 cents at the App Store. Good to load before you go if you are going to use your phone. The naked eye just doesn't see the depth of the colors you can get on your camera. It was great to be able to go in the warm yet sort of a hut periodically but dress warmly because if the lights are performing, you'll be outside most of the time and it's cold!!

We went on two nights and on both we saw fantastic displays of the northern lights. Make sure you have a good camera and that you know how to use it. Mobile phone cameras are not usually adequate to capture the lights at all.

We visited Fairbanks for 6 says but there was only one night with clear sky suitable for viewing. The location was perfect, and we saw the most incredible Northern Lights show. Our guide Dave was knowledgeable and friendly, but most of all he was dedicated to his work. We had a great time and the experience was well worth the expenditure.

While the driver of our van new his material, customers in the van could not hear the information since the van was not equipped with an audio system.

Picked up promptly at hotel. Nice drive to hill top with yurt. The lights were out and dancing forming whirls, and curls and waterfalls. While the colors were more subtle than I would have liked, they were fascinating. The guide was familiar with cameras and helped set them up so everyone could get pictures. Great trip.

Amazing night outside Fairbanks. Our guide was such a fun and interesting person with lots of knowledge and stories not only about this specific tour but about Alaska and the outdoors in general. Saw a great light show but for that you need to check weather and Aurora (I recommend their website)
