Icacos Snorkel Safari
Puerto Rico’s oldest and coolest snorkel boat, The Innovation, is a 1971 replica of a Second World War LCPL vessel used by the US Navy! The classical 36 foot vessel departs the docks of "Blue Flag" Marina Puerto Chico at 10:30am, cruising along the historical coastline of Fajardo, in direction to “Cayo Icacos”. Sway to the sounds of island music and listen to the crew interpret the iconic landmarks along the way. Thirty (30) minutes into our ride we arrive to the Reef at Icacos Cay, where preparation for some of the best guided snorkeling in Puerto Rico begins.
At the reef, gear is distributed and the Innovation crew will provide a complete, easy to follow, snorkeling instruction covering use of equipment, safety and etiquette. Then, off to the water we go! Your guides will lead the way to show you the best spots on the reef, explain the underwater ecosystem, provide safety, and guide you to discover the coolest marine life on the sea floor. Starfish, schools of blue tangs, yellowtail snappers, sergeant majors, parrotfish, filefish, eagle rays, and occasional turtles are some of our most common encounters. The abundance of marine life at Icacos Cay is amazing! Back on the boat the snack bar is open along with complimentary refreshments and soft drinks.
Following the snorkeling session, the crew detaches from the mooring and the captain leads the boat to the stunning white sand beach paradise of Icacos south side. The lunch buffet opens up with a hearty fresh selection, and tasty tropical drinks are on the house. Guests can explore the island of Icacos on their own, or join one of our crew members to continue exploring the natural wonderland. At about 3:15pm it’s time to retrieve anchor and begin our leisurely cruise back to Marina Puerto Chico. At this time friends have been made, lots has been learned and everybody is talking about how much fun was had aboard Puerto Rico’s premiere snorkeling vessel.
