Set off on your Lisbon day trip with a hotel pickup from the Algarve, then hop into an air-conditioned coach and head north. On your way 3-hour journey to Portugal’s capital, relax and gaze out the window at charming coastal views.Arrive in the hilly capital of Lisbon and get ready to discover Portugal’s rich history. Tie up your laces and start your walking tour with a stroll through the Belém district situated at the mouth of the Tagus River. Observe Lisbon’s most distinguished buildings and landmarks as you explore with your expert guide. Take a break at Belém Tower, a fortification that played a major role in Portugal’s Age of Discoveries. Nearby, enter the Jerónimos Monastery which was erected in the 16th century during the rule of King Dom Manuel and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. From your audio guide learn how the monastery was dedicated to Vasco de Gama's successful voyage to India. Then, comb the monastery admiring its quintessential Gothic Manueline architecture and its unique style of ornate etched arches.
