2-Day Desert Trip from Fes to Marrakech

Day 1: Fes –Ifrane-Midelt–Ziz Valley – Merzouga

07:30 - You will be picked up from your hotel or riad and drive to Merzouga. Your first stop will be at the monkey forest to see Barbary apes leaping from tree branches. You will then visit local cave-dwelling nomads, who you will share mint tea with and learn more about their culture and way of life. After, you will head to Ifrane, also known as “Little Switzerland”, which was established by the French in 1930. Here, you will see the famous Stone Lion landmark.

 

You will continue to the town of Midelt, where you will have lunch at a local restaurant and in the afternoon, you will cross Tizen Talghamt to reach Errachidia to see the beautiful views of Ziz Gorges. Later on, you will stop in Ziz Valley to see stunning panoramic views and to take pictures.

You will continue to the Erg Chebbi Dunes, passing by Erfoud, where you will visit a local fossil craft workshop. Next, you will continue to Merzouga and on arrival, you will transfer to your hotel to store your luggage.

18:00 - Your local guide will be waiting for you to take you on a camel ride to enjoy the beautiful sunset in nomad tents, where you will have a traditional Berber dinner of ″Berber tajine” under the starry sky. You will watch a spectacular Moroccan Berber folklore show around a central fire pit, where musicians bang drums and dance. You’ll spend a mystical night in desert tents, able to admire the starry skies.

Day 2: Transfer from Merzouga to Marrakech

You will wake up early to enjoy the sunrise on the Sahara dunes. After that, ride camel-back to the hotel for delicious breakfast. Then, be ready for an amazing drive to Marrakech passing by Todra Gorges, Valley Todra, Kelaat Mgouna, Dades Valley, Sakura and Ouarzazate. You will have lunch at Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah and continue your trip crossing the High Atlas Mountains through Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 meters in altitude), while enjoying superb views and Berber Villages on the way.

18:00 Arrival in Marrakech, transfer to your hotel or Riad.
