About this activity
09.30am start our Fes Guided Medina Tour from the Majestic Blue Gate, “Bab Boujloud” the Royal entry to the old Medina, decorated with an old complex mosaic with the combination of the blue and green traditional tiles providing a perfect example of complexity and sophistication of Moroccan architecture.
We will enter the old Medina to walk through its narrow streets all lined with spectacular traditional shops selling a variety of Moroccan traditional food and local sweets. We will also find plenty of shops providing the most beautiful traditional handmade crafts, perfectly made to show the beauty of the ancient culture; as you can find: carpets, leather bags, copper lamps, wood furniture, ceramic, silver decorative pieces..etc
Afterthat, we discover the most spectacular buildings and old 12th-century houses, we will take you to admire Al-Qarawiyyin University, the oldest university in the world, and a perfect example of the authentic elegant Moroccan architecture.
Lunchtime with a local would help you explore the real Moroccan life by joining a family of natives in their 14th century’s house while discovering their traditions and sharing their lifestyle.Having lunch with a Fessi Local Family would help you learn their impressive cuisine and eating basics, as cleaning the hands before every single meal, eating only with right hand, and using the left one for picking up bread and passing dishes; saying Bismillah before eating, and of course the most important thing sharing, as Moroccans eat from the same big plate as a sign of love and unity.
During your lunch with a local family, you will get to taste the most delicious traditional dishes and local flavoured salads, perfectly made by a native Chef; colourful Couscous, tasty Chicken and olives Tagine, Taktouka, Zaalouk Salad, Meat and Vegetables Tagine, spicy olives, every bite you take tells the story of Fes, Morocco’s ancient city. Your lunch ends by a plate of fruits as a traditional Moroccan desert.
After a mesmerizing Lunch, you would have some variety of incredibly delicious Moroccan pastries with a tempting cup of mint tea.
A Tour in The MedinaOur Fes Cultural Day Tour continues through the 12th-century alleyways of the Old Medina visiting Al-Attarin, Nejjarine, Seffarine. Then, we will leave the Medieval Medina towards Al- Batha Museum, Arms Museum, the authentic Mellah (Jewish Quarter), the fabulous French-Style gardens of Janan Sabil, then the old ceramic and pottery school, and so many other old wonders. You would also get some fabulous surprises, as free Henna tattoos and exciting activities.
At the end of your Fes Guided Tour and lunch with a local family, your driver will get you back to your Hotel/Riad.
