About this activity
Meet your friendly guide in the lobby of your hotel at 9:00am and set off on an exciting genuine tour. Start with the Palais Royal and feel the Royalty at Morocco's most stunning palace, Fez' Royal Palace. The Mighty Golden Gates will leave you imagining how grand is the inside of the palce and the magnificent architectural details are sure to leave you breathless.
Not far from the royal palace is Fez Jewish Quarter. It was established in 1438 and is considered the oldest of the Jewish Quarters in Morocco. Enjoy a stroll and marvel at its ornate balconies and windows.
Continue to one of the highlights of this tour, an impressive panoramic view of the old medina of Fez awaits you. Don't forget your cameras!
Visit a pottery co-operative that highlights the art of Moroccan pottery and handmade tile through workshops and witness the entire process.
Continue to Bab Boujeloud, commonly known as the “Blue Gate,” it serves as the principle entrance to the old Medina in Fez. Its glittering mosaic tiles and grand archway have made it one of Morocco’s most famed gateways.
When you stroll beneath the famous blue gate of Bab Boujeloud, you are seemingly transported 1,000 years back in time. The bustling cafés and outdoor markets quickly give way to quiet narrow streets.
Free time for lunch break will be given to you (whenever you decide).
Be impressed by the University of Al-Karaouine that was founded in 859 AD. It is considered by UNESCO as the oldest continuously operating degree-awarding university in the world.
It was established by an incredible woman, Fatima al-Fihria, a Lady who had fled her country of Tunisia for the kingdom of Morocco. The University features beautiful Andalusian ornamental details and its libraries have several extremely valuable documents written on gazelle parchment.
Along the way, you will stop to visit the shrine of Moulay Idriss II, the patron saint and founder of the city of Fez in 789 A.D. For centuries it has been a place of pilgrimage, thanks to the tomb of the city's founder.
It will be time to marvel at Nejjarine Square and Museum. Dating from the 18th century, this beautiful square is dotted with Andalusian-style architecture. The Museum showcases woodworking tools along with a collection of wood and cabinet work, both ancient and modern from various regions in Morocco.
Continue to the famous Fez Tanneries, one of the city’s most iconic sights and smells, offering a unique window into the natural process of producing world-class leather using methods that haven't changed since medieval times.
Finish your tour in style in the vibrant souk with the alluring lanes of bazaars exhibiting exotic goods and intriguing crafts from Morocco’s past, a veritable show that always amazes its visitors!
