About this activity
Why You Shouldn’t Miss This

Tuscany is regarded as the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. It has been the home to numerous influential figures in the fields of art and science. It is also well-known for its wines, such as Brunello di Montalcino, Morellino di Scansano, and Chianti, originating from the picturesque Chianti region. Tuscan foods are quite simple, with a wide variety of bread, cheese, meat and legumes used in their cuisine. Wine production forms an integral part of their history and culture and is something held with great pride by the people of Tuscany. The medieval walled town of Monteriggioni is nestled in the Tuscan hills and is one of the most gorgeous towns in Italy. It has a rich history and culture and has been referenced several times in Dante Alighieri's famous Divine Comedy.

Your Experience

You will travel by minivan or GT coach through the beautiful Italian countryside. A tour leader will accompany you and ensure that you have a seamless Chianti experience. The sight of the stunning Tuscan landscape with its rolling hills and lush flora is something that you can never forget. The Chianti vineyards are nestled in these hills, and the harmony of colors is something rarely seen in nature elsewhere. You will also see numerous villages, medieval castles, and ancient churches, frozen in time and serving as a reminder of centuries gone by.

You will make your way to a wine estate, where you will be taken on a guided tour of the cellars. You will be walked through the entire process of wine production, all the way from harvesting the grapes to bottling the end product. You can then savor a tasting of several flavors of specialty wines, enjoying some sliced cured meats, salami, and bruschetta along with the drink to tingle your taste buds.

Next up is a visit to the enormous Monteriggioni Fortress, located on top of a hill. Several shops specializing in various Tuscan products can be seen inside the fort, along with cafes where you can just enjoy some local coffee or gelato. You will then be taken to another local winery, where you can taste some of the finest olive oil in the world, and more varieties of wine. The tour will conclude, and you will be dropped back to the meeting point in the same minivan or GT coach.
