The museum is home to an array of artistic masterpieces, the best-known being Michelangelo’s “David”. Housed in the main gallery this statue towers above the onlookers. Ensure you walk around it and be amazed at Michelangelo’s genius from every angle. It is without doubt an incredible artistic accomplishment; carved from a single block of Carrara marble it was sculpted by Michelangelo in his early twenties. Standing 17 feet (5.17 metres) high, it depicts David, the biblical hero who killed the giant Goliath.
