About this activity

The tour will start at 10 am, the meeting point is in Piazza della Repubblica, very close to the Duomo, in front of marble column. Follow your guide you’ll start the walking tour in Via Tornabuoni, one of the most popular shopping street in Florence with many famous brands like Gucci, Armani, Celine… On the way to the most famous Central food market in Florence you will reach the first Medici Palace where Lorenzo il Magnifico lived in the Reinaissance period, well known for his contribution to the art world by sponsoring artists such as Botticelli and Michelangelo. You’ll enter in the history of Medici family that ruled the city of Florence for four centuries.

Next to the Medici Palace you’ll admire the big Church of Saint Lorenzo and the popular Medici Chapels, a place desired by the last Medici, Anna Maria Luisa, to remeber forever the power of her family. Then you’ll reach the leather market of San Lorenzo, a great place to find little gifts for friends and family, many sellers with their desks full of belts, wallets, scarves, leather notebooks, jerseys with written Florence, ceramics and many other souvenirs. Then you will enter in the popular food Market and you’ll receive a little explanation about typical products used in the local cuisine and you’ll start to taste the local product of Tuscany like parmigiano and pecorino cheese, olive oil, olives, salami and prosciutto and many other products. After the market you’ll have a walking tour visiting the most beautiful views of the city, the most popular monuments and the secrets streets in the ancient Florence, visiting the Medieval Quarters where Dante Alighieri lived. Finally you’ll admire Signoria Square the political center of the city, a magnificent open air Museum with many statue as decoration, with the popular copy of David of Michelangelo in front of the huge Palazzo Vecchio. You’ll walk through the Uffizi Galley and at the end you’ll reach the golden bridge, Ponte Vecchio. It’s time now for an authentic Tuscan meal, made by a family whose passion is food. Sample local wines from Tuscany and Chianti, and let yourself unwind. After lunch get ready for the amazing Duomo of Florence, the symbol of the city. you’ll enter in the Cathedral skipping the long line and have a visit inside with your guide which will explain you all the details and the secrets about this place of worship.
