Itinerary
The tour starts with an introduction to the square and its religious buildings.
Then you will visit the interior of the Baptistery where you will see the amazing golden mosaic that inspired Dante Alighieri for his Divine Comedy.
Our local guide will tell you about the secrets behind the Baptistery and the Dome of Brunelleschi…
Inside the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (St Mary of the Flower) you will admire the biggest painted surface in the world (3,600 square meters of frescoes), two famous equestrian 'monuments' and the Crypt of Santa Reparata.
The tour continues with a visit to the Opera del Duomo Museum, the largest museum of sacred art in the world with 6,000 square meters of masterpieces from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance; more than 700 works in marble, bronze and silver, covering 720 years of history!
Last but not least, our tour will bring you 330 feet high, climbing the 464 steps of Brunelleschi’s Cupola and skipping long lines and the risk to find the dome sold out! You will walk in the original passages used by the masonry men who shaped the biggest and most famous dome in the world.
Stop At:
• Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, Piazza del Duomo 9, 50122, Florence Italy
