Private Minivan Tour to Siena and San Gimignano from Florence

About this activity
After being picked up in the morning from your central hotel this private chauffeured tour will head south-west from Florence to Siena, Italian icon of Medieval and Gothic architecture. Upon arrival you will the old city center with a licensed, professional guide who will accompany you to all of Siena’s monuments to be visited on this custom excursion tour. Walking along the narrow medieval streets, you will admire the splendid Cathedral where you can visit the marvellous interior.
The tour will continue to Piazza del Campo, where the famous Palio horse race is held twice a year, overlooked by imposing Palazzo del Comune (exterior). Free time to stroll around the city on your own, have lunch, or go shopping. Siena has many specialized stores for great occasions around the square and in the main street called Via Banchi di Sopra. Local food include the Panforte (a cake with dried fruits and sugar), the Sapori (tasty biscuits with almonds), the Pici (a type of pasta).
Proceed to Monteriggioni a medieval well preserved walled village for a photo stop. Later, you will stop by a local estate for a light lunch where you enjoy Tuscan specialties and taste 3 wines.
Your driver will lead you to the medieval walled city of San Gimignano. You will have the first sight of the famous towers of San Gimignano from afar. Enjoy a loop around the village on your own, going to the lovely Collegiata, the Piazza della Cisterna with its 13th century cistern, and head to the Rocca – the fortress – for spectacular views over the ancient towers .
At the end of the tour you will be taken back to your hotel.

IF YOU ARE IN FLORENCE AND HAVE A DAY TO SEE THE COUNTRY SIDE, WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TOUR. THE SCENERY WAS BEAUTIFUL AND THE HISTORY OF THESE TWO TOWNS, WHICH WERE LARGELY UNTOUCHED BY WWI ANN WWII, IS FASCINATING.WE HAD A WONDERFUL LUNCH WITH OUR GUIDES ACCOMPANIED BY A WINE TASTING IN THE EARLY AFTERNOON.
