Why You Shouldn’t Miss This

San Gimignano, with its numerous towers, narrow streets and picturesque churches, is one of the most beautiful towns in all of Italy. The center of the city is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its fourteen towers, several churches and piazzas. The town is well known for its saffron (the spice) as well as its production of white wine that is made from grapes that are grown on the Tuscan hillside.

Siena is one of the most frequently visited cities in Italy and is home to some of the best examples of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. It has a rich tradition of art, which is evident from the numerous works of Renaissance art that rest in its churches and museums to this day. The shell-shaped town square, Piazza del Campo, is where horse races are held every year and is worth checking out as well.

The city of Pisa is one of the most densely populated regions of Italy. The Arno River flows through the town and is home to several medieval churches, palaces, squares and bridges. The Piazza dei Miracoli, a popular tourist hub in the city, is considered an important center of medieval art and architecture of Europe and is on the itinerary for your tour as well.

Your Experience

Your tour will begin from Florence. You will be taken to the attractions in a minivan or a GT coach.

The city of Siena is first on the itinerary. A guide will accompany you as you embark on a walking tour across this charming town. Your journey will begin with a visit to the Piazza del Campo, which hosts the biannual Palio di Siena horse races. Next up is the Piazza del Duomo in Siena, the most famous square in the city. Following that, you will head to the Siena Cathedral. This is one of the most stunning churches in Italy and is built in the Romanesque-Gothic style of architecture. The white and greenish-black marble is a sight to behold, especially in the light of the afternoon sun. The upper facade contains a mosaic that depicts the Coronation of the Virgin Mary. Gargoyles and sculptures of saints pepper the facade structure the detailing of which can only be appreciated when seen in person. The Santa Maria Della Scala is another intriguing monument in the square. Initially a hospital, it now serves as a museum and is considered one of the three artistic hubs of Siena.

Following this, you will then be allowed to discover the city for yourself. A wine tasting session and lunch will follow, allowing you to rejuvenate and feel refreshed enough for the upcoming attractions.

After lunch, you will head to San Gimignano, situated on a hill. The surrounding scenery is gorgeous and touring the town with its towers, narrow streets and beautiful churches makes for a wonderful experience. As you go along the picturesque roads, you will soon reach the Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa. The cathedral, Baptistery and the world-famous Leaning Tower of Pisa can be seen here. You can explore the area and take photographs as well. The tour at an end, you will then be driven back to Florence.
