We were so excited for this tour and had a great time, the problem was with the driver and with the timing. Our driver was late to meet us at the meeting point which cause a lot of confusion since we kept asking other people and thought were at the wrong location. He finally arrived and barely said anything to us. He did not give us any sight seeing information. He barely answer our questions. He dropped us off first in Montepulciano and gave us too much time, about 2 1/2 hours. Montepulciano was great we did a tour that everyone gets to do but at least it was just the 6 of us. Then we drove to Pienza where he kind of showed us where to go for our lunch. He did not walk with us or introduced us so we were even wondering if we were in the right place. Lunch was delicious and included wine. It did not have the view it was promised but it was good. We were not done and got a call from the driver to hurry because we had an appointment at the next city. We did not get to see Pienza (big bummer). Then we went to Montalcino to a beautiful winery. We did the tasting and a little tour of the place. It was very nice and the wines and olive oil were good. We purchased some stuff and then it was time to go back. We did not to get to see the city of Montalcino either (another big bummer). Then he drove us back. The tour had a lot of potential but needs to be modified to include time in the cities. I felt the tour was more geared for us to buy stuff than to see the places.
I picked this your for the three towns where we’d never visited. The countryside was gorgeous. I’m not a red wine person m, but the first vineyard was ok. In Pienza we had a delicious lunch on a terrace overlooking an incredible view of the valley. On the third stop we skipped the wine tasting and wandered around town. The van was nicer than a huge bus!
