Itinerary

Day 1: Petén Itzá Lake

Stop At: Mercado De Flores, Avenida del Cementerio 18 calle, Guatemala, Ciudad, Guatemala
Our group tour starts in Flores, a small town located on an island. Flores is best used as a base from which to make daytrips. Tour members would be arriving at different times. Some may be jet lagged while others, not. Those who arrive early enough and have some energy could join us at Lake Petén Itzá, where we should be swimming. It is a 1-hour bus ride away from Flores. Transportation between Flores and the lake is complimentary.

Note: Mundo Maya International Airport (IATA: FRS) is just outside Flores and is the only other international airport in the country aside from Guatemala City.
Duration: 30 minutes

No meals included on this day.
Accommodation included: We finalize room bookings about 10 days before departure. We choose only quality accommodation. We'll keep you posted.

Stop At: El Mirador, Guatemala
Today we should be making a daytrip via a 45-minute helicopter ride to an archeological site called El Mirador. Get ready for a 5-hour hike as we discover the area.

We should start the day by taking a 30-minute hike to a viewpoint called Indian Nose, specifically to watch the sunrise over Lake Atitlán. After returning to the hotel and resting up a bit, we should be exploring by boat the villages surrounding Lake Atitlan. Although the cultures of these villages are influenced by the Maya people, each has its own personality and distinctive indigenous style.

Expect to see vendors selling traditional attire, masks, handicrafts, food, flowers, pottery, wooden boxes, condiments, medicinal plants, candles, pom and copal (traditional incense), cal (lime stones for preparing tortillas), pigs and chickens.

Note: If Day 6 of when you begin this tour does not naturally fall on a Thursday or Sunday (when the market is open), then other fun arrangements would be made for you. Don't worry!
