Get inside the park to begin your tour

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Macuco Safari, Foz do Iguaçu - State of Paraná, Brazil

The adventure begins at the entrance to the Macuco Safari, located 25 kilometer down Cataratas Highway inside Iguassu National Park. Board open jeep-towed wagons that allow for an unobstructed view of the scenery along the trail. During the stretch of three kilometers through the jungle, multi-lingual guides will point out examples of the flora and fauna of the Park.

Orchids, palm trees, bromeliads, centenarian trees, and even wild animals that occasionally cross the trail are pointed out by the guides.

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Iguazu Falls, Foz do Iguacu, State of Parana 85855-750 Brazil

The hike is the second stage of our journey. On a stretch of 600 meters, is a hike on a trail that leads to a waterfall called "Macuco Falls" (optional). The waterfall - perfect for refreshing yourself on hot days - spills down from a height of approximately 20 meters. Access is via a stairway carved into the ancient rock. Make your way down on a short drive on an open-top jeep to reach the last stop, the Macuco Safari docks on the Brazilian side of the Iguassu River.

In the water, inflatable bi-motor boats await us. They´re constructed to withstand the rigors of the excursion, as well as being secure and efficient vessels. Before embarkation, passengers receive life-vests and plastic containers in which to protect photographic and filming equipment. The boat travels up-river passing the canyon facing the rapids at a speed that allows for scenic viewing.

Rocks, animals and ample amounts of greenery complete the scenery until the base of the Falls is reached, next to the "great horseshoe" know as the "Devils Throat".

Enjoy a waterfall shower.

Rainbows, blue sky, mist and water in abundance, punctuate the spectacle whose high-point is the "The Three Musketeers". Here the captain maneuvers the boat in order to get close enough to provide the passengers with a quick and refreshing shower. Since at the end of the fun everyone normally ends-up wet, passengers more sensitive to cold should make sure to bring extra clothing to use after the boat excursion.

Before that trip I made another one with a very good guide, so this time I was a little disappointed. After we had to buy our tickets one by one she only rode the bus with us silently, then gave us a map to show us where to go and left. Sice we had to ride the big bus when we arrived the place was totally crowed and we had to wait to even begin to walk down the only trail there is. Later she waited for us to tell us to get in line for the bus that will get us to the offroad and boatride. Once again we sat in the bus and she somewhere else without saying a thing. Later on she bought our tickets which she gave to us and we went our way. The truck ride with about 30 people or more on it was nice. At the boat station we could decide wether we wanted the wet ride or the dry one. Do the wet one. You get close to the Musketeers, though not really close to the devils throat.

I think the title of this tour is very misleading - the off-road jungle drive is not what you think and is only actually a truck that takes you from the boat landing back up to the entrance, the hike is a very mild 10 - 15 min walk to the boat landing - the waterfall ride was amazing but could be longer and just prepared no matter even if you where a coat you will get soaked.

We thought this tour was a lot of fun, and definitely worth the money. I saw a review that said the pancho was a waste of money since you still get soaked, and that's not the case. We were the only ones that didn't buy them and the only ones that were soaked! Really enjoyable trip!

I had a great time doing this tour. I only wish one could take their own camera for pictures. But it might get destroyed in the process so it might not be worth it. Awesome time and experience, I loved it!
